P1924

Hi ,guys the CEL came on , no symptoms runs fine ( 2004 conti GT )
After I did not fully click the oil filler cap .I think I added too much oil , so I removed about a pint .
i have used an OBD2 reader .
initialy I thought oil vapour may have mucked up a sensor in the inlet kinda excess crank vapour ?
I disconeted the air intake pipes and shot WD 40 into it while running, the CEL light went out straight away when I reved it up .
About 200 miles later it came back on ,same code .After deleted. It comes back on after 10 mins while warming up .
Any how any ideas what code P1924 means please

see: http://p1924.enginefaultcode.com/. This will give you a high-level understanding of the code. You will probably need access to a VAS diagnostic system (i.e. VAS5054A) to dig down further than the generic OBD2d reader.

PMS - thx for that .
I was hoping maybe somebody new exactly.
I have googled it and all sorts of different things , loose fuel cap , wrong fuel , loose oil filler , dirty MAF ,
gearbox issues , cam variator issues , spark plugs , coil pack , various sensors , inc Lamba etc .dodgy thermostat- Weak LHS battery — et al
Thing is it runs fine in all ways .
Its not due @ respected U.K. Indy until November for its MOT and I,am running about in Switzerland until April in it .
I suppose I could take it to a local VW dealer for a diagnostic hook up ,nearest Bentley dealer is @ Gstaad. If i,am passing I may pop in .

Any VW group dealership (i.e. Audi, VW, etc.) will be able to precisely diagnose the problem you are experiencing. They may or may not be able to fix it, but they certainly will be able to diagnose it with their equipment. Good luck and please keep those of us on the forum posted so we learn from one another.

Not had chance to call in @ a large VW dealership ( phaeton W12 ) in the valley, how ever it’s gone off for the past few days .
i have filled it up with 98 RON fuel ,so wonder if it was cheap low octane fuel or a dodgy fuel cap seal ?
i,have done 1200 miles since the oil cap / suspect overfil debarcle mentioned ^^^
fingers X .
still all the same for completeness it would be nice to know what P1294 was on a OB2 reader

We have had some dreadful rain / storms here , the car has had a good soaking on the roads .
It lives in a garage@ night when not in use

I made last year ( reading about electronic gremlins ) a protective cover I fitted on top of the fuse box under the LHS scuttle .This is designed to keep those wires / plugs dry from snow and accumulating snow when parked outside during the day on the windscreen- melting and wetting the fuse box .
So far so good in the snow

I,ve got Dunlop winter sports on btw which are super grippy and a bit softer more compliant ride than the summer Pirelli’s B1 Zeros .
It’s real good traction in snow n ice the 50/50 direct 4 WD system on the Alpine hairpin bends

The CEL came on a few days before we departed to Switzerland from the U.K. .
As said 1200 miles later and some quality fuel it’s gone off

VW Group OBDII code P1294=engine coolant thermostat. Short to earth (ground). I don't know if you mixed up your numbers as your thread header references 1924 yet your content says 1294. Please confirm which number DTC.

The CEL has gone out. This was the stored code now deleted.
P1924
It went after topping up with 60 L of Swiss She’ll RON 98.
i did put French 97;in on the autoroute down .

Ihave Googled it and the best response is this

8331P1923Engine control module (ECM) 2 – malfunctionTrouble code(s) stored–

P1924Engine control module (ECM) 1/2, pin coding – impl usible signal.- ECM

So does anybody know what the “” pin coding for (ECM) 1/2 “”[ presume both module s ? ] “ implausible signal “ means please .

Bear in mind it ran perfectly with the CEL on and runs fine / same with it off .

i read somewhere a guy had his software re programming done ,in old school talk is that chipped ? For more power .
A few weeks later he got a P1924 - but the thread pettered out - not conclusive

Anyhow it’s gone spontaneously since 60 L of RON 98 .
some garages in the U.K. just do 95 cheapo supermarkets, some places give a choice of 95/97 , French Autoroute- but here in Switzerland I had a choice of 95/98 -

"implausible signal" usually means the value returned from a sensor is way out of spec. In short, the sensor is working in that it is sending a signal, but the ECM can't make any sense of the value. I have seen this caused by a low battery, frayed wiring, loose connections, etc. You will need a VAS5054A or equivalent diagnostic system to chase the problem deeper. If you flushed the error codes and they haven't returned, I wouldn't worry too much. The CEL is a true PITA as it indicates a problem with too many variables.
