21 inch max tire size first gen cfs?
I have the mulliner wheels from the newer spur on my 2008 CFS, currently size 275 35 21. Can I change to 275/265 45 21 or 275/265 40 21?
I was thinking of trying the 265 40 21 Dunlops on the mulsanne.
What is the largest tire size or sidewall you guys are running? Any recommendations on a comfortable tire brand/model? I am more concerned with ride quality than performance. I barely get above 60mph most of the time.
Just want to know what will physically fit without rubbing. I need more sidewall, the roads are horrible in NY!

The 35 or 40 is a ratio not a size like shoes etc .
Always stick with OEM size and tyre brand in the handbook.Insurance Co,s could refute a claim .....you are in that territory in the event of a accident , a big one where car control is a factor the first thing they will look at are the tyres .
If you want a bigger sidewall for better ride comfort then you need SMALLER wheels , so drop down to 19 ,s 275/40/19 s .
Problems the near 200 mph performance.I find the summer 40 on 19 ,s 275 Pirellis have a stiffer sidewall ( correct B1 spec ) but crucially Y rated than the winters .
The side walls have to be extra reinforced for above 150 there’s more weight in them metal wise and the book / door jam sticker suggest hyper inflation to 50 psi if you want to exceed “168” ....Autobahn in Germany of course
The correct winters as per the handbook and door sticker ( Mr insurance accessor ) are Dunplop winter sports .Theses are rated to I think 150 mph so don’t need as stiff heavily reinforcement of the side wall = a more supple ride .Obviously I don’t go cranking it round Alpine hairpins with 1000 ,s of feet drop over the edge when it’s sub zero outside in the winter .36 psi at the front feels fine .
Personally I don’t get the 21 inch rim thing .
Had a Cayenne that came with 22 ,s and 30 aspect ratios 285 ,s .summers .......while it looked like a drug dealers car the ride was ruined.
For the winters I bought a set of OEM 18 ,s off E bay and fitted OEM winters ....255 / 40/ 18 ,s about 3x the side wall and 3 x the ride comfort.
That car too had air suspension just like the Bentley GT .
No it’s the “ kings new suit “ very few like me push back on this drug dealer alloy thing ........it’s not like Bentleys are track day cars .
Sure if I had a 911 GT 2 and wanted that extra 0.1 sec on my lap times then I would to 21/22 ,s with a lower aspect ratio .
Additionally tyres , the rubber hardens with age .Check the date stamps .Depending on the milage say over 5 years you will notice a more supple ride with a fresh set .Not talking obvious cracking just age stiffness.I change the tyres on my Ferrari because of harness , it effects the grip as well as the ride because of age hardening.Usually only 1/2 worn .
Makes a huge difference. With new I can grab the tread blocks and squeeze together between my fingers .....feel the sticky ness , suppleness, softness .With old tyres ( low milage - plenty of tread ) the blocks are rock hard unyielding......and the suspension harsher.
Fresh rubber makes a huge difference.
