Went out to drive the B. Got the low tire pressure warning. Shut the car off, than aird up two tires. Tried to restart, nothing. No starter click. Not even turning ignition switch to the left would energize anything. Scaned the vehicle and came up with vcds 01049. Now thinking what is this going to involve? Decided to drive a different car not and think about it. The Ross Tech Wiki leads one to check a variety of things. In the end I decided to check the starter battery and indeed it was bad. The battery wasn't that old. The date on it was 2013🤤.
Bought a new starter battery and fixed the problem. Thankfully in this instance not overthinking avoided a lot of unnecessary tinkering. A bit worrisome though in the beginning.

Funny I had the same thing happen to me a few months ago, went out to a friends and then the car wouldn't start but it did on the key turn to left & all that, got home & left it put the battery on charge, in the morning didn't start, so went & got a new battery, when I got to swop over it hit me check the terminals the positive was loose in fact nearly off the battery which did concern me as if it did come off it would have been a different problem but tightend it back up & she fired up, no need for a new battery this time ... Glad you got yours up & running ...

Very good it was easily resolved! Glad for you it was short work Eric!
This is also a good case in point about advice we all give here about battery tenders. Interestingly, lead acid batteries (starter battery on our cars) do not recover very well when they're allowed to discharge and life is shortened considerably on them. If a LAB drops below 10v it will never fully recharge and recharges take longer and longer. on the other hand, when maintained well they can often outlive their warranties. LABs have to be kept above 11v at least or they are going to be on a steeper downhill.
If my car is parked at home, this is what you'll see. I use a 7002 on the AGM setting for the main, and an MXS 5.0 on the lead acid setting for the starter battery.
