Center arm-console thingy

Just got a lot of work done and out of the blue (unrelated) the passenger center armrest won't go all the way down into position. If I lift them up all the way, to reset the ratchet, it works on both, but the passenger one stops about 3" too high for comfort when brought back down.

I didn't see an easy way to get to the ratchet mechanism, is this anything people have dealt with?

Your back British get this forum up & running ... ok ive had these out a few times when installing the system. Do know how to take them off, it comes out as one unit.
the one which is stuck either something has got into it & stopping it closing fully or the mechanism is stuck. you need to remove it, let me know once you have I'll guide you how to strip it down. To remove it you going to have to remove the front & rear centre panels & there are 2 torque bolts (forgot) what size remove them & it will lift off & unclip the cable ...

Just had this happen to me today. Get the car home and lift up the drivers side and damn!!! It stops about 3 inches or so. Did you figure it out British?

When I had it in the shop for the wheel bearing and wheel powder coating, I just had them fix it. I don't think they even charged me for it. Someone else said you have to take the whole center console from the front to get it off to take it apart, I don't know if that's true, but it makes sense. It's not that big of a deal, I think Johnny Hotspur posted a pictorial of how to do it, I don't have any space to work on it, so I just had the shop do it. If they charged me, it wasn't very much because I don't remember seeing it on the bill. It might have been a fifteen-minute job. Sorry I don't have more info. I know it didn't require any parts.

I'd fix it, rather than living with it, I didn't realize how annoying it was to have it stuck until I got it fixed and then it was very nice.
