Power steering issue?
Power steering issue?
With my 05 CGT, as soon as I put some throttle the steering becomes heavy, as if the power steering is only working partially. At idle all is fine. Oil is clean, level OK. Anybody?

Hello Rooks ...
These car are fitted with a system called Servotronic Power Steering, this means with the engine on & at idle the s/wheel would feel very light & can turn without any effort & at low speeds, once driving a higher speeds the steering automatically get heavy to hold the road.
To my knowledge it seems like the system has failed & needs resetting (ross tech) if the main box has failed the steering would feel heavy even at idle ...

That makes sense, the symptoms are exactly as you describe.
Is it possible to do the reset with a VAG V-Checker? Or can it be a failed Controle Module?
It works totally fine at idle/low rpms.
Steering light at idle/parking/reverse, stiff at acceleration like before.
44-Steering Assist gives "comm error" with v-checker. Module/Relay malfunctioning?
