Here is another thread on the Exhaust Gas Temperature (EGT) sensor you might want to check out. I just replaced the board in the assembly by resoldering in a new one and didn't mess with the sensor in the exhaust since I didn't want to risk breaking it off myself.

EGT circuit board replacements

I purchased two boards from Poland. The guy was very nice. I was able to swap the boards without worrying about taking out the sensor from the manifolds.
