Fender Removal 06 Continental GT

Hi All,

Searching around, could not find instructions for fender removal.

Assuming it's torx bolts across top of fender, removal of front wheel, removal of wheel well liner, removal of nuts on rear of fender, removal of fender?

W. M. Hellinger is infamous around these parts
It's been awhile since I've done that, but here's what I recall:

1) Remove the plastic wheel well, which requires removing the wheel first.
2) There's three(?) torx head screws to remove on the "front" (just ahead of the wheel) inside behind the wheel well. These are affixed to the bumper cover.
3) There's a vertical row of 5 torx head screws to remove by opening the door. As I recall you can see them pretty clearly.
4) There's a couple of torx head screws or small hex-head bolts (I don't recall) fastening the bottom back (near the door) of the fender to a square bracket. This is on the inside of the fender/ behind the wheel well. You'll likely want to let these soak with some penetrating oil.
5) There's one 8mm head (I think) hex head bolt between the high and low beam headlights. This one is tricky to get to... you can feel the head of the bolt with your finger, but it's difficult to get a wrench or socket on it. I heated and bent a cheap box-end wrench "just right" to reach in there (you'll likely want to do this too once you size-up the situation). You don't need to remove this machine screw fully, just back it off a few turns, as there is a slot in the bumper cover tab that will allow you to slide the bumper cover off the bolt head... the bolt threads up into the fender... and getting that machine screw started back in the captive nut is difficult. You will need to remove most of the fasteners on the bumper cover to allow some movement to separate the fender from the bumper cover... don't forget the bumper skin bolt behind that side's grill (remove that grill too).
6) There's a row of torx head bolts on the top side of the fender just under the hood... these are self evident (with the hood open).
7) That should be all the fasteners for the fender (I can think of anyway)…. and at this point you should be able to lift it off the body. The fender might be a little stubborn to remove as there's some adhesive as I recall between to top of the fender (the line just under the hood) and the body panel under it... so you'll likely want to gently pry that lip up to undo the stick-um.
8) For good measure, I propped my hood open with a yardstick as I don't trust the hood shocks to keep my hood open for the duration.

Bumping from the abyss….

So for those that has removed the bumper and fenders, and had to make or modify a tool to get to a few of the bolts(like the one right next to the headlights for the bumper), do you think any of these would work? I have no way to make a 8mm whatever to get them off unless I ask one of the welders at work.

I watched a YouTube video and this is what that guy made to finish his job:

Man was I confused 😂

So I decided to tackle getting to my ABS pump after reading this a watched a YouTube video or two. I get to the part where it says open the door to get to the torx and I see nothing. Confused I started taking off the bumper. Once that’s off I look towards the door and this is what I see.

The more I work on this thing the more I realize some stuff is not like the rest of you all. Mines must have been built on a Friday or Monday!! Let me see if I have any extension that’s able to reach in there 🤦🏽‍♂️
