Does anyone come here anymore?? Has bwings gone?? Rico? Jonny ?? All the gurus seem to have disappeared 🙈
Have you lifted the car removed the under trays , air box and inspected the connections around the turbo and it’s waste gate + other things ?
Do you have a history of what’s been replaced / repaired on the affected side ?
There’s a v slim outside chance a manifold bolts sheared .......caused by excessive heat , caused by chipping ? The thing over expands and it’s usually a bolt at the far extreme ie end of the manifold .So the front or the very back end .
Its difficult to delve any deeper without a thorough history + examination .

Sadly o don't know the history of car as it was bought as a cat s but I'll be taking it apart again to have a look.its a strange smell .it's not full on exhaust smell but it's definitely engine smell .like it's not strong enough to gasp for air or feel it breathing it in its just a faint smell .but I will investigate more in the next few days when I get time as it's something that's been bothering me since I've got it .will keep you guys informed .commence the headscratchijh tool throwing and swearing 😂
Also check the rubber gasket at the cowl area to keep engine bay smells out of the fresh air intake, if you set the air to recirculate does it still smell ?
Found the problem!!!!!.
ok so thanks to some.input from a fellow Bentley owner on another forum the issue has been found.turns out Bentley has two small core plugs at the side of the block close to the front of the engine just above below the head.casting holes I believe and the core plugs have gone.this has obviously been a issue a long time ago looking at the soot and gunk build up I will post some pics of the fix
when parts arrive but in the meantime here's a pic of the hole and location
Hello Yoghurtshotgun,
Great find, would you please share the link to the information.
Also, I am not sure if in post number 4 is a typo, or did the vehicle have a bad cat or two ?
The hole you pictured is actually in the head, not the block, there are 2 in each head, you will want to find the cause of the plug being dislodged, possibly clogged cat, egr valve stuck, exhaust, etc., are both plugs on the pictured side missing ?
.

Hi Johnny thanks.for your input .the car I bought as a cat s a year or so ago and have been tinkering with it on and I did for a while .I have no history all I know is the last owner was an ******* and didn't look after it one bit .the car has smelled ever since I bought it and has been driving me nuts but someone on another forum.i admin mentioned it could be the plugs so I dig in and took a look.now the question is what could be causing it.the car doesn't seem.to.soit any codes and pulls like a train so surely if it was blocked cat it would run badly .maybe I'll put some grub screws in the hole and run it up and see if any fault codes appear .there looks to be a lot of soot build up around that area I'm just wondering if something's not operating on the turbo.sadly I don't have access to a ramp but if it keeps playing up I'll.take it to a garage friend and get them to look a bit deeper
Ok success !!! After speaking to another guy on a different forum he was correct .there are two small core plugs on the base of the head towards the front of the head they had both come out somehow .I replaced them and all seems good.
Can you please tell me what a "cat s" car is.... ?
I thought it was a typo, but you wrote it again.
Thanks, Johnny
In the UK we have categories when a car is crashed .mine hit a parking bollard at low speed and the damage cause supposedly wrote the car off and the insurance sold it of as the lowest category .a category S which means it's repairable and able to use on the road .some categories mean the car can never be restored to road use

Thank you for all of those valuable pieces of information! I myself suspect my car to have the same issue, since the symptoms seem to match perfectly. Would you be so kind as to share with us the part numbers needed, in order to fix this problem? I am having a hard time making sure to identify the correct kind of plugs online. Thank you so much!!!
