Oil in intercooler

I went to change my intercooler which has a hole in the bottom of it and when I disconnected the lower hose oil poured out of it. There shouldn't be any oil in there should there be?

Often caused by turbo oil seals wearing out.

Depending on how much oil came out? A pint, less than a pint? This is not uncommon for an emission controled turbo engine. The EVAP system is a closed system, there is a certain amount of blow by. The oil mist condenses in the intercooler and collects as residual oil. Depending on the last time the intercooler was disconnected will determine if there is indeed a problem ( there could be a couple years of accumulation). Yes & agreed the turbines (also) overtime bypass oil. Frequent oil loss as measured by the dipstick would be a better gauge.

It is normal as @1eapplebaum stated, now, and in the past
https://www.6speedonline.com/forums/...ying-spur.html

My 05 had a small amount of oil at only 8840 miles, the 06 parts car with 17,000 miles also had a small amount of oil in the intercooler hoses.

I thought maybe that was blow by. It was probably 1/2 a cup or so. It's a 12k mile car.

Seems a lot in comparison to my other marks.

I had only a thin film at 53k miles. Car purchased at 40k miles, so could have been cleaned up prior to me though. If oil levels aren’t dropping or burning out the tailpipe, maybe it’s ok though. Don’t know this car all that well.

Every vehicle I have owned with intercoolers have had some amount of oil in the lower hoses. Just bought an 07 Conti GT and found the same.
I wouldn't worry about it but that's me.
