Mine is an 06 and the car did come with soft close. The passenger side is the original door and is is soft close. My car was in an accident and the driver door had been replaced (not by me). The replacement door was not soft close. I did install the interior door panel with the soft close openings, a new door lock mechanism for soft close, new wiring harness and the soft close motor. I don't remember if I changed out the door control module though. It might just be that the door controller is the wrong one. If i remember correctly though the new harness had a different set of connectors than the non soft close one did. Therefore the controller I have must be soft close if it had all of the ports for the new connector.

I'm thinking that if I need to get into that door again then maybe ill change out the controller and see if that does anything.

Rons GT Speed is infamous around these parts
Hello all. I have a 2008 GT Speed and the driver's door soft close also failed a few years ago. I too asked the form for help and one of the members advised to forget repairing it. He explained and supplied a picture of his spouse's fingers that were caught when the passenger door was closing. She unfortunately recached back to stop the door from closing and there is no safety stop to the closure. The door closing caught and smashed her fingers and she had to be rescued getting the door open. I believe his story can still be found in past forms. I figured it was not worth attempting to repair the closure. I just push a little harder closing.

After driving the car for almost a year, i really never even notice the passenger side soft closing. I think the doors are heavy enough that we just close the door like normal and that is already hard enough to bypass the soft close. I would like to get it fixed eventually because I like things to work like they should, but i will only get back into it if I have to get into that door for some reason. And as a warning to anyone redoing the headliner USE THE RIGHT GLUE! I redid mine and just used generic 3M spray adhesive and it looked amazing for all of three days. I couldn't believe it when i got in three days later and it was sagging just as bad as before. I guess the interior heat just killed that adhesive. What a shame. That wasn't easy to do. I also have the stupid TPMS that doesn't work even though it did until I rotated the tires. That screwed something up and I cant get it back to working.

Hi Copperline,
Do ou have any input on what might be the correct glue ? My liner has also started drooping (think the direct sun heat in spain gets the roof too hot and cooks the glue over time, more than interior heat).. Would be great to hear how you did the job, even with inadequate glue, and any other pitfalls..

My softclose driver door also stopped working, at a time when battery was bad (was replaced of course).. always wondered if there is a reset I've missed on this.
