I recently purchased a 2008 Bentley GT sight unseen on Monday. The car is scheduled to deliver this evening but I wanted to post about something that i discovered after I purchased the vehicle. I was curious what options it had so i reached out to the original bentley dealership that it came from and they were nice enough to text me the build sheet. Upon reviewing these documents, i noticed that the car was optioned with the front carbon ceramic brakes. After speaking to my local independent shop, they said that state inspection doesn't have a "minimum" discard spec so normally that means you have to replace them. While I understand this was well over $200k new, forking out $12k is a tough pill to swallow.
Curious if ccb can be resurfaced or if anyone has converted to steel brakes.
Hello @JKhlok ,
Congratulations on your new Bentley !
As to you comments, let's clear up the first issue of carbon ceramic brakes only in "front", as we had another member back in Dec 2015 being told he only had carbon ceramic brakes on the front of his 2007 Diamond Edition GT, that was simply untrue, it's either iron brakes all around, or carbon ceramic all around, never mixed together, if you would post pictures of all four wheels showing the rotors, we can all then agree on what you have, from the one picture you posted above, I say that you have carbon ceramics all around.
As to the state inspection, I am not sure that your state actually measures the thickness of the rotor, I know that NJ does not, but regardless, the CC brake rotors barely wear, and could out live the vehicle, you did not mention mileage of the vehicle, that would play into it, these CC rotors are said to last well over 100,000 miles, I have read that the CC rotors are good if the surface is smooth like glass, if they are rough and or pitted they need replacement.
Check out the video below for some measurement information, and let us know if the Bentley rotors have the 3 points shown in the video.
@JKhlok ,
I see that you never responded, any updates ?
Johnny
Sorry I completely forgot!
You’re exactly right, the car does have carbon ceramics all the way around.
So I brought the vehicle to my inspection station and thankfully my brakes and min values so they were able to inspect them and it passed with flying colors.
I spoke to a guy at a local cars & coffee that owns a newer NSX and GT3RS about ccb. He said the dealership had to take the rotors off and weigh them to ensure that they were good.
Hi, congrats on the Bentley!
We are new here, hope you do not mind to give you some info.
We are new on the forum and want to present our service. The service performed at ReDisc d.o.o. is based on an innovative technology that we have been developing for more than 10 years. We are the only company in the world that has its own production line for the refurbishing of heavily worn carbon-ceramic discs. Our products are already known on the market under the name Rebrake GmbH, because they had a license to sell this service and we were their main supplier. But we are not connected nor do we cooperate together anymore. In 2022, we decided to enter the market under our own brand. With the creation of our own sales team, the purchase of new production facilities and updated technology, we registered the new Redisc trademark. Our aim is to make carbon-ceramic discs available to a wider group of drivers, in a more affordable way, and to save existing users money on their vehicle maintenance.
We are also using carboteq, becase the experience show, that weight is not the only factor. If you would need refurbishment, please let us know. You can find more info on www.redisc.si or PM us here.
