Hi guys, has anyone installed a garage door opener to a car that didn't have it fitted from factory? Jus purchased a 2005 Continental GT but the garage door opener section seems too be a blank plate. It SEEMS like a cool thing to add if i don't have to dismantle 3/4 of the car to fit. Figured i may be able to purchase what's required from a dismantler, then start the nightmare.lol. Thanks in advance from Melbourne, Australia. Chris
This garage door opener was on US market only, so if you buy parts to support it, you will be surprised with US frequency specs - unless your garage radio system in your house is in the same freq ranges.
I am EU and it just does not work - I am basing my statements on my experience with CHRYSLER cars I owned in the past.
Had one from US market - had this garage-opener-console - no work, diffs in freqs.
Then had other CHRYSLER family car but built on EU market, and there was no garage-opener-console at all - they just do not do this for EU.
I think similar can be for our GTs.
I have a 2002 SLK32 highly modified but the old garage door opener would not work with my new home. I had a new mirror replaced (much nicer anyway) with the latest tech. It looks factory and easy to program. Was $300 installed.
