Removing Foam Block in Glovebox

I have a 2013 Continental GT Speed which does not have a CD Changer in the glovebox. In place of the CD Changer is a foam block You can see it here as part 14 on the Scuderia web site.

Does anyone have any idea how to remove the foam block? I have so far failed to get it out. I want to use the space for something else. Does it click in like the CD Changer does and hence require tools to get it out? The web site illustration shows that might be the case. I have asked Scuderia and have so far had no answer. Perhaps an expert on the forum has the answer!

Thank you!

Peter

Hello @PeterHS ,
Why the new thread, we discussed all this in your other thread on the same issue, I thought you were going to order some of the removal tools, did they not work, if not, then I suggest a removal of the glovebox itself, so you may gain access from the rear side for removal.

Hi Johnny,

Yes we did but I still have the issue and so wanted to broaden the question rather than having it buried in another thread.

I have ordered the removal tools and now have them, However, there is no obvious way to use them - there are no slots in the foam block to slide the tools in to and it is not obvious whether the tools would go in at the sides of the foam block or underneath on the right and left sides (I have seen this in video about removing the CD player).

You may be right that removing the glovebox entirely may be the answer. However, I cannot imagine that the foam block was anything other than slid into the CD Changer space. I just cannot find anywhere that tells me how it is held in!

@PeterHS ,
Understood.
As to the removal of said foam block, something isn't adding up, in the picture of the block from Scuderia, it shows the indent on the side, like a slide in locking clip, but, as seen by my pictures, the NAV drive has 4 small holes, therefore it uses the U shape tools to remove, whereas upon closer inspection, the CD changer does not, and said CD changer has no slots, nor any removable caps for access as the NAV drive does, and it appears as I screenshot your picture and zoomed in, you have no slots at all, which goes against my thoughts of a removal tool as per the indent shown in Scuderia's picture, is it by chance glued in, have you tried a utility knife to gently cut at the seams ?

The Scuderia image suggests there is a clip or connector on the side as you have indicted. The tools I have - such as the ones that look like the bottom pair in your attachment - do not seem to help. I might try a utility knife! It could be it is glued in. One way or another I guess I can hack it out! The foam is pretty hard.

I will also chase Scuderia for an answer - I asked them a week ago. If I can see the foam block I can see how it might be held in. I guess I can also figure out whether buying one for $50 gets me the answer…. Otherwise the more brutal approach will be the answer!

As a follow up here I got hold of a new foam block. Photos attached. The indent on the side is not an indent - it is actually a raised area. So maybe it "clips" in using those raised areas at the sides. It is interesting that it is not a solid foam block but has odd shaped cutouts - I have no idea why. So your suggestion Johnny to remove the glovebox seems to be the only real way of finding out how it is held in and potentially getting it out! I will do that as soon as I can. If it is helpful to others I will photograph what happens! All this to better locate an Apple CarPlay unit!
