I'd like to replace the reverse light bulbs in my 2004 Bentley Continental GT with LEDs. I'm able to take out the housing from the car, but can't remove the bulb holder from the light housing. I've tried twisting the bulb holder, pulling the holder, and pushing and twisting.
I just checked ITES and it saying that the rear inboard lens and body are moulded from polycarbonate and are vibration welded together. It says the bulb is not serviceable and if it fails, that new lamp must be fitted. Please post what you find since I just bought two lens cases for my car from Alibaba and would hate to think they are worthless at this point.

Many thanks Mars911. I had feared that given all the prodding, pulling, pushing that I had tried. Seems like a waste to have to replace the entire unit including the sensor built into the light. One other idea that I had was to drill out the bulb and its holder and replace, but that seems like more effort than it is worth.
Please can you share the link for what you bought on Alibaba?
Here is a link to what I purchased. It seems legit and good quality, but I didn't realize the bulbs were not replaceable. I figured these were/are the exact same lenses being made for Bentley, but looks like it might be only part of the picture.
It could be that they just copied it verbatim. While a solution could be found for fitting the bulbs, removing and installing the reverse sensors is going to be more difficult.
in my case, I think that I’m going to throw in the towel on the reverse light and instead replace the number/license plate bulbs with LEDs that are brighter.
Mars911 please keep this thread updated with what you end up doing. I’m curious if PS19W bulbs will fit the units that you bought? And also what you end up doing with the reverse sensors.

If the bulb can’t be removed then I don’t want to mess with trying to take it apart. There’s another thread in these forums that I found where it’s also noted that the bulb can’t be replaced.
Winged, Would you send me a picture of the back of your light and also the front, the company I bought these from has asked for them. ? I am working with the company that sold me this and they said that they have sold many of these and I am the first one to ask about the light or the sensor. They are also going to send me the pictures ( or said they would) of the used parts they have. I am hoping that shows the parts, possibly from a later year model, that became modular instead of a single piece. I may even try to make my own if I can get the connectors etc, but that may be a long shot project for the future or let you do it for us.
I went onto ebay and saw a used one and it looked like it might have plugs in it. I haven't taken my lights off to check. Did the ability to change the bulb and sensor possibly happen at some point?
Thank you, I have sent this to the company that sold me the light holders. I will keep you updated. Also, I will check to see if I can find a light that you indicated, a PS19W and see if it will fit into the light socket. On the parking sensor, has anyone figured out an option to buy one besides OEM/Scuderia. From another post it looks like this is a Bosch part that they only sell to the OEM's.
This appears to be the bulb part we are looking for. Does anyone recognise it and know the part number for just the bulb holder and wiring? If not, does someone have an idea for the best place to look for it?
I believe the connector is part number 1J0973802 and the female plug may be 1J0973702
I believe, but still need to work on this one, that the actual light housing is part 1K6945259

Good news, I was able to get the light to twist out of the housing and install it into the new housing I had purchased on eBay. I used a pair of pliers to turn the light socket counter clockwise to get the socked to come loose. I turned it slowly and it felt like it was going to snap. The same when I reinstalled it into the new light housing. After that it went right back in.
Carefully turn counter clockwise to remove light Bulb inside the housing
I replaced my housing since my housing on one side was discolored. My bulbs were still good so I did not try to switch it out, but the bulb was in there pretty tight and I was not sure how to get it out and didn't want to mess with it and possibly snap the tab holding the bulb in place. I believe the bulb is replaceable. Bentley does sell this as a single component and I do not know if they switch out the bulb or not.
