Boot release issues 2007 GTC

I have issues opening the boot of the car.
when I when press the boot release on the key fob or, press the B on the boot, it releases but doesn't open and, then locks itself.
the only way I can open it, is to press the B and pull the boot up manually but, have to be quick or it will lock itself again.
once open, i can press the boot close button and it close normally.
ay ideas?

I would Replace the Weak Opening struts first as its a really heavy boot if that dont work could be the motor ...I think i read somewhere the weather could effect it also and lube the hinge moving parts@Johnny Hotspur GT is your man

Appreciate your reply.
Coincidentally, I had literally just walked in from trying some advice on a thread I had found from a while back and, hadn't long read. for now it has worked, happy days.
it read, when it unreleases fully open it manually, and then close it manually which, if I'm honest didn't think it would work but, thankfully it did.
I will keep you posted if it just temporary..
