Main light switch faulty

Hi all,
Does any one know how hard it is to change the main lights switch in the dash. Mine is intermittent when you lightly touch the ****. Some times you have to waggle it a bit to get the main beam on or the rear lights it just depends on the moment.
Any help greatly appreciated.
Frank.

1. **Disconnect the battery** (safety first).
2. **Remove the driver-side dash trim** (pry gently with a trim tool).
3. **Unbolt the switch assembly** (usually Torx screws).
4. **Unplug the electrical connector** and swap in the new switch.
5. **Reassemble and test**.

**Tip:** Check for loose wiring or corrosion while you’re in there. If you’re uncomfortable with trim removal, a shop can do it in ~30 mins.

Let us know if you need part numbers or torque specs!
Excellent info Rob.
Thanks for the parts help.
Will have a go later.
Thanks again.
Frank.

Once the trim is off and you can see the switch, you might try spraying some tuner cleaner into the switch before replacing it.

Frank I used a trim remover and just pried out the unit and its not that hard. Its juts a clipped socket behind it. A slip flat head screw driver will do the same job if you are careful and dont damage any of the dash. I had the same problem.... Now my headlight on right has gone out I am kicking myself!! lol Not related obviously.

These ar worth buying from Amazon or Ebay or somewhere! I bought them from Grom audio when buying my audio kit.

https://gromaudio.com/store/accessor...-set-of-4.html

Second one from top on the picture is what I used.

To All,
Please do not interact with @Roberto88 ,
He is a scammer, he is not in California as he listed in his profile, he is in Cameroon, Douala, Africa., I have corrected said location.

He has 9 items listed for sale in our Marketplace, therefore, if he has contacted any of your via PM, Visitor message, or the like, please ignore.

All of the 9 items he listed, are actually listings by others back to 2019, copied from various sites, so please do not fall for his fake Bentley wheels listing, or any others at all, I am deleting all listings now.

The real listing below.

Johnny

Hello @CUE99T ,
Exactly, that is what first caught my eye, then his use of KM versus miles in one of his listings.

Update

Hi Guys,
Well the Rob guy was partially correct on this one.
you cant just pries out the switch. you have to drop the lower knee roll /fuse box cover and frame ( about 6 hex screws) then undo 2x m6 nuts to free the switch. prising out just removes the switch facia with the **** attached. The switch is still bolted into the dash.
Pics below.

@Frank ( Sunnyside ) ,
Well that's odd, I guess someone forgot to install the nuts on both my 05, and the parts GT, as you can see marked by yellow, the studs have no nut thread marks on them, my switch is just pressed in.

so looking inside this switch, what is causing the "connection" issues, that you need to waggle a little bit to make the contact? Is it fixable?
