Factory smoked rear lenses for Gen

So is there any smoked rear lenses from the factory for a Gen 1 car. I failed an ITV in Europe for lenses tint (light test), and before I strip it off to go back through, wondered if anything was possible.

Hello @CUE99T ,
The first gen GT Supersports had factory tinted tail lights, basically leaving the two oval areas not tinted, or just slightly tinted, as to me, the oval areas look to be darker than the standard GT tail light.

My standard GT tail lights.

The Factory tinted Supersports tail lights.

How my (previously tinted by another) parts vehicle tail lights look day and night, I have buffed and sanded mine to lighten up from when first installed, I concentrated heavily on the ovals, and most of the time, I'll drive locally with the parking lights on in daylight, as to not have an issue with the man.

.

@Johnny Hotspur GT thanks for showing me the pics. Its super helpful to see. I assume the Supersports lights would fit my Gen 1 car? Just nervous the ITV station thinks my car has a measurement that doesn't match the Supersports but probably not.

Would a Gen 1 Supersports bumper front and back also be able to match a Gen 1 car? I have to get my bumpers front and back repaired so wondered if they would fit also? I like their lower valance being better and cleaner.

Thats good to know. I think Flying Spares has used lenses from a Gen 1 Supersports as it says 2010-2013 model, so I think they might work!!

My '07 has an aftermarket Supersports bumper that was installed after it was imported from Japan. I did not personally install this, but the only thing that I don't like is that the grille inserts are plastic honeycomb (like Lamborghini) and not like the pattern of the main Bentley grille. I have yet to find the correct inserts for my car after years of searching eBay and such. I ordered a set of 3D-printed grille inserts from Flying Spares, but then the problem was finding someone to chrome plastic. Not very usual these days, at least not in Sweden.

Edit 1: I believe the aftermarket Supersports bumper on my car was purchased from the UK via eBay, but I have no idea. The fitment is 95%, not 100, if you're a perfectionist.

Edit 2: I really like your rear smoked lenses, Johnny. They match your wheels/tires perfectly and goes quite well with your overall color scheme.

@CUE99T,
Yes, the tail lights will fit, as will the front bumper, BUT, not the rear bumper, as the Supersports is 2 inches (50mm) wider in the rear.

Have you tried faucet manufacturers? Chroming plastics is their bread and butter nowadays. FM Mattson, Gustavsberg, Mora Armatur and others in Sweden might be able to help. I had this problem several years ago and ended up contacting Oras in Finland.

Guys, this is why this forum is magical! Thanks for the responses and loving the white and blue cars Xclens! Merc is lovely!

I might have a go at a template and try and cut out the window tint film on my lenses if it looks like the blue car I'd be happy with that.

Thank you for the advice! I would have thought faucets were predominantly made of metal, to handle the water pressure and frequent use. I have a good local connection there, so I will ask.

Thank you! Unfortunately I don't have time to drive them much right now, but I am always so happy when I open the garage door.

Also check AliExpress/Alibaba, they have a lot of good products that fit our vehicles, even though the communication/translation is not always perfect.

@Morgan28 ,
Please explain what model vehicle you are referring to, as you state "MX-5 NC", we are talking about a first gen Bentley GT here, and yes, the first Generation GT Supersports did 100 % have tinted tail lights.
This is not a Mazda we are discussing...

Also, fix your location, or I will do it for you, as your IP address is not in the USA as you stated your location in your profile, your IP address in from Douala, Cameroon, the same goes for all four ip addresses from your posts.

Good luck with the retest!

I will wait for a response from Morgan28, then decide to remove or not.

You're welcome.

Faucets are mainly metal but also contain quite a few injection molded plastic parts that have to be made to cosmetically match all the chrome and stainless on metal components. It's most commonly done with PVD technology because in mass production it's relatively cheap and the coating is durable so it can withstand handling, elements and moisture. It's not in their best interests to have the coating peel off prematurely when a faucet has a 10-year warranty.
