2005 Bentley Flying Spur - Starting issues

Hello,

New to the forum but so far it has been a great asset. I am based up in Aberdeen, Scotland and I have recently acquired a 2005 Flying spur which has been good fun until last week. I purchased it with a few known issues I would like to get sorted in the coming months.

Known Issues:
Keyless entry on drivers side not working.
Drivers door soft close fault
Passenger side air suspension slow leak over 4 days.
Exhaust leak (need to get on a ramp to identify where).

I took it out for a drive a few days ago, left it for a few days and when I came back to start it, I had all manner of fault codes and errors, something akin to a previous car I had which had low battery issues. The car would Start then die 1 second later. This has continued for a while. What is interesting is that it always seems to start strong.

So far I have:
Changed the house battery to a new one (arguably this seems to make the car worse!)
Charged both batteries,.
Changed the batteries in both keys.
Found a blown 15 amp fuse in the fuse box under the scuttle panel (saw this on another forum post)
The "Emergency Start" procedure doesn't seem to make a difference.

Since changing the house battery yesterday, I am now met with "low battery start the car" messages and the key getting stuck in the ignition. After 30 seconds or so, the key eventually releases. Additionally the remote key no longer works to lock or unlock the car so I am a bit perplexed by this....it could be a new battery is no good, but these symptoms are new with the change in battery. It still starts and dies one second later, which to me feels like an immobiliser issue.

Whilst I am fairly handy with engines and cars, this is a bit daunting as I am a bit clueless where to start with these beasts. I should get some time tonight with newly purchased VCDS to run some diagnostics which I will share however, is there any other areas that I should be looking at which are known common points of failure? I have trawled through multiple threads but all seem to have different resolutions. Hopefully the VCDS can shed some light but any advice on areas to check would be much appreciated to get this 2.5MT paperweight alive again!

Thanks in advance,
Struan

The keyless entry system is most likely the button in door handle is faulty or the wires have broken from it.

Recently had the same replaced on my continental GT, parts alone came to around £600, as its a complete unit (handle).

When you changed the car battery, did you follow the correct procedure in the order you disconnected/reconnected the cables? This car can be fussy when it comes to order in which to disconnect/reconnect battery.

That’s good to know re the system.

i have had success tonight, one of the 150amp megafuses has partial continuity. I loosened it and it started to work again and the car fired right up!

there was some helpful posts that helped me start looking. I will share the vcds readout once on a computer as there is a lot of codes, however I have cleared them and will take it for a drive and see if they all come back.
