Steering wheel vibration

I have a 2012 Bentley continental W12
It glad a steering wheel vibration that becomes steadily worse between 80k -100Km/hr
I have had numerous bently mechanics look at it and say that they can find no fault
One told me that all the second generation cars have this

Does anyone have any idea what it could be ?

Joseph

Mine experienced the same exact problem. It got worse and worse until it started causing uneven wear to tires. The culprit was worn bushings. Even though the front lower control arm bushings looked perfectly fine and checked ok with a crowbar test, they had worn so soft that they deformed under load and caused vibration. I could have just installed new bushings or control arms as a package but chose to upgrade to polyurethane, which solved the problem and sharpened up the handling and steering substantially.

Mine has 44K and what seems like the same problem with a slight wrinkle: It seems to come and go. The car is perfectly smooth until approximately 60 mph, then by 65 mph the steering wheel moves visibly. Above 70 it seems to smooth out some, but never as smooth as it feels below 60. On long drives the vibration will be there, then it won't, then it will come back again. No visible issues with any of the suspension components.

Front wheel bearing? I replaced one of them last year after symptoms like this and now the other one is on its way out. With slight vibration at some speeds and situations. I did some elimination work and pinpointed the problem to the bearing, not the least by realizing it appears on left-hand corners, even long sweeping turns on the highway. Fortunately the bearing change is easy, approximately a one-hour job.

Thanks, might just do them both when I do the poly bushings.

Swapping to 19" Winters on OEM Wheels I found this info.

So what I realised was that I have Spigot Rings on my car for my 21" wheels, and when I take the big wheels off I get almost zero vibration on my 19inch wheels so it might be that you need to replace the rings if you have aftermarket wheels that are not 57.1mm like the hub is, and they should stick to the hub not the wheel apparently but 3 of mine came off with the wheel, so hence why I now know I have Spigot rings aka spacers on my hubs, which could be lose and probably causing the vibrations I have. Got some CNC machined ones for going on in summer.

My wheels have a 72.6mm hub so theres a gap needing filled. so I ordered these.

Spigot Rings

Just another thought.
