Bentley Cont Air Suspension Fuse Blowing
Bentley Cont Air Suspension Fuse Blowing
Hi all,
Came out to my Continental GT the other day and noticed the front suspension was down. Tried starting and leaving it running but wouldn't go up. Seems the issue was the 40amp Fuse for the Air Compressor was blown, replaced it and it blew within about 8 seconds of starting the car. Replaced the Relay 53 and tried another fuse but that blew. Have checked the 1 10amp fuse near it and the other under the steering wheel and they are coming back okaym it's just this 40amp fuse that blows.
Have tried jacking up the car to a normal height and it just blows again.
Nothing has changed on the car recently, other than it being sat for about 3 weeks. I can't put the car into jack mode either (im guessing because of that fuse) I also have no codes on a diagnostic which is odd but my tool isn't fantastic
Would this be the air compressor failing and drawing more power than needed? Or would this be an electric issue. Any informatio would be great!

Hi, With the fuse blowing the problem maybe either electrical, I'm thinking the wiring loom might been chafed some where and shorting to earth or damaged by rodents, or mechanical and the compressor is at fault. The electric motor on these is normally pretty bullet proof the mechanical side is where I'd look first. Piston rings do fail and occasionally conrods.
Regards Chris.

Hi Chris thanks for the reply. Will get the compressor out this week when the weather clears to see what the matter is. With a mechanical issue, would that still cause the fuse to blow? At first I was thinking Electrical but until my Auto Elec can get out, wanted to check the compressor over first
