Maybe got a solution for Keyless Entry not working on peoples cars

So I eventually got my own car working today......tested and working multiple times!!!

I had a bunch of Antenna errors on my VCDS but I always felt since the Start button did work that they could be misleading....anyway with a bit of ChatGPT help and playing around with Controle module 05 today I got it all working!

I went into Measuring Blocks on 05 module and found that my Group 006 which showed Door handle status, checked the handle by touching it and watching VCDS changed to Activated when I touched it. I couldn't believe it was all working!! Quite impressive that it was a live sync, anyway I could only do this with ignition on and since I have one key, I couldn't do the other tests, so I told ChatGPT to just assume all my antennas were working and what would it try, and low and behold it said to try the reactivation procedure with a sync process - which was clearing the fault codes, locking the car remotely, give it 30 seconds and then put the key flat against the door handle and try and pull it open, and I could not believe it when the door opened, and so I tried the passenger door and all good!! I cannot believe MD said it was antenna and wanted to charge me for new antennas!!

Apparently there is a cycle called "temporary KESSY security lockout" that happens if it fails to open a few times it locks it down in the Kessy. Who knew!!! Been trying to solve for 12 months!

So now saved from a new antenna bill, as I plan to just put a battery charger on my car to give it a day or two conditioning since its quite cold here in Andorra and want to just see if that clears up the errors its giving off.

I have a speakers error also but tbh I also think thats false as my audio seems fine since I changed out the speakers.

Anyway hope that might help give a reset option for anyone with keyless door opening not working.

WARNING: It did say to NEVER go into adaptation as that can disable the key from your car, so one to never do!!

Yeah it was good to know the door handle works ok either side as thought I might have to replace them or strip them which I had already checked when swapping out speakers.

I think if the battery doesn't charge up above 12.2-12.4 though I might replace the battery and see if that clears the Antenna fault codes, as when I took the car out for a run, its 11.8v and its also logging the antenna fault again so turns off the keyless doors. Seems its a protection thing if it falls below 12v, and I can't also get into 42 and 52 for door convenience settings, which are slaves of 46 which I can get into in VCDS. Apparently the LIN bus turns them off for battery protection use, so its also maybe why my child locks are not working as they are in the same settings. Funnily enough the fuel flap and boot buttons work ok, and so does all the window switches on the door switch panel, but its possibly also maybe why some of my roof panel buttons don't work, so it could be a new battery which isn't the end of the world at 250 Euro and means the car I then know has a new battery. It's sub zero most nights here now so the winter setting might also be a charging option to try but will see what 24hrs reconditioning does to the battery voltage and take it from there.

Had to replace a lot of 911 air cooled batteries over the years for various quirky things, so seems a good place to start when you have these cars with the W12 and complex electronics.

If the batteries are more than a few years old, replacements are very likely needed. The best way to extend their life is to keep them on the charger if the car won't be driven for a few days. Since 99% of my trips are short drives around town providing very little charging, I've gotten into the habit of using the charger daily.

Yeah, good idea. I do use it daily to get around, but also its colder here at night so maybe once a week I will pop it on maintenance mode.

Just gone ahead and ordered this new battery which is a good spec.

Are you replacing only one battery? I always replaced both at the same time. Or do you have a Gen 3 with only one battery?
