Dinan is now offering an ECU upgrade for the 335. Has anyone had it done? Anyone know if this applies to the 135? I don't see why not. Thinking about ordering a 135 with the Dinan ECU. What beats this for the price? Anyone else thinking along the same lines? When are the 135's available in the U.S.?

 

1-series comes out mid-march, dunno if you can secure a spot for the 1st shipment. I'm going to wait for the tii personally, but I don't see why the DINAN flash wouldn't apply to the 135.

 

Now thinking about the 335xi 4-door instead with another baby on the way. I think the Dinan mod applies to this so I will definitely be getting it done if I get the car.

 

Good to know. Just debating between a 335 and a Mercedes ML63. Two very different cars, but tough decision. One costs a ton and is a ridiculous brut (more my style), while the other makes perfect practical senses. However, with the Dinan mod including their exhaust and HRE 19 inch wheels, the 335 can be ridiculous too!

 

384 hp and 421 lb-ft from the Dinan chip...sounds great when you consider the matching new car warranty coverage (up to 4 years/50K miles)!

 

I had a 2002 M5 with the Dinan mods (chip, exhaust, cold air) and was very pleased. I know they are expensive, but the preservation of the warranty is key. It is amazing that the 335 turbo engine has so much latent potential.

I had an M5, currently have an M6 convertible, and I am honestly thinking about the 335 with the Dinan mods in lieu of a 4-doo4 M3 because of the automatic transmission (wife has to be able to drive it) and the low end torque. I'll pocket quite a bit of the price difference even after getting HRE's.

The 335 still seems like one of the best kept automotive secrets out there.

There are plenty of SAFE alternatives.
The simpliest is the Turbo Tuner. It's sold for a little under $600 and is even sold at many dealers!! It's suppose to be good for about 30+ horses on 91 octane and maybe 40+ on 93. It's a simple plug and play unit.

The best bang for the buck is the JB2. It should make a little more power and cost around $380. It's not as easy to install. There are also options depending on what gas you run.

The Dinan flash did OK on a recent dyno, but wasn't any better than these units.

 

DINAN price for ECU Upgrade is $1999, for the sake of comparison.

 

Make sure to order the sport w/ 18" wheels, or you will not get the oil cooler. W/o the oil cooler, you can't get the dinan flash.

 

Can you believe $2k for the Dinan oil cooler???

 

I like the Dinan option, but if you don't have an oil cooler, it gets steep! I'm waiting to see how the Attache compares to Dinan too. SSTT for now!

 

Not a single limp at all. I've driven the **** off the cow, so to speak, and gotten the car good and hot. Long hard pulls in 2, 3 and 4, taking 4 from 60 to 130. Haven't had it at the strip yet, but I will soon.

 

it gets hot. Haven't pushed it to limp, but I probably could. Need to work on the cooling on this car if I'm really going to push it.
