540i project still moving on slowly,
SubscribeVery nice!! The work thus far looks impeccable.
What other engine work was done? I've not heard.

The motor , done by VAC Motorsports, Stroked to 4.75 L , Heads P&P'd , Valves 1mm over , cams done by Elgin Cams , Rods are Arrow H , Everything balanced, New timing chain & tensioner , New Vanos chains , oil pump modified , New H2o pump( Metal impeller)Originally Posted by Trevor Ely

Wow! Cool project! I'm curious to see what the final product ends up being. What sort of hp are you expecting to put down? Is this going to be a street or track car?

I am not exactly sure , An X-5 maybe? Tony had it in his shop as we tried a different way and then had to back up and use what he had that had a single chain system...... As far as HP , there is no telling. We had 440RWHP and 395RWTQ @ 7 PSI before we started this go around. A different blower , more Cubic inches , head work done , methanol injection will add up to , who knows ?It will be what it will be and we are getting closer it seems , hopefully the majority of the missing parts will arrive next week and then Nick will hopefully have the ECU mapped out for the beginning phase of a long and arduous task of re-mapping the M62's ECU....Originally Posted by Trevor Ely

That was my best guess....and, IIRC, that's an Alpina sourced motor. (The 4.6is and 4.8is)Originally Posted by Dirt11

Very cool. Well, I must say, I admire your attention to detail during the project. Look forward to seeing it come to fruition.
Everybody seems to be either sick or hurt so the progress has been slow as of late but , progress has been made as the new clutch and flywheel are in and the tranny is in place. The new 7" crank pulley and the new 3" super charger pulley with the new tensioner are installed. I was told all the pieces of the Aquamist HFS-5 methanol injection system are at ICS. I went out and bought the Accusump system from Canton racing products in North Branford Ct. It is a pre-oiling system for the engine. Nick G has the MAF, injectors and the ECU still and I assume that by March there will be a base line tune to see where we stand . Here are a few photos... The pulleys...
The pre-oiler and reservoir tank for the methanol
The intercooler and piping, the oil cooler gets the same anodized treatment
The new clutch and flywheel
The new crank pulley and supercharger pulley
The relief that had to be cut to keep some distance away from H2O pulley
That is all for now....

Freddy came to work with a hurt ankle and is working on my car .
I have been told the Tuner will have a base tune in 8 days.
I bought the Laser Pro Park system along withe the Cheetah wireless system. I also bought the Bavarian Soundwerks Sub Woofer for the car
Freddy ran the fuel lines , the oil lines , put the Accusump ( pre -oiler) in the trunk, ran the aquamist lines, installed the aquamist pump . The oil cooler came back from being coated, The oil catch can showed up, my sub woofer showed up as well as the wireless system for the Laser Pro Park system. Nick G is still working on my ECU.
Still moving forward ......
Still moving forward ......
