Hey all, I am a big M3 fan. I aspire to own an E46 M3 within the next 24 months. I will be graduating from Penn State University with a BA in Marketing. I will also be receiving my commission as a 2nd Lieutenant in the U.S. Army Reserve or National Guard. I just wanted to say hello in the M section even though I love P-Cars too.

welcome! you will certainly enjoy the E46 M, just don't get suckered into the SMG vs MANUAL wars. Take what you enjoy. Just know that the SMG doesn't blip throttle on downshifts under anything less than track-style driving, and it's annoying around town.

I just parted with my 2004 M3 cabrio, had it for 14 months .... BMW just bought it back pursuant to california lemon law. To be honest, i don't miss it too much, but then i wanted something more comfy. hence my 645 cabrio lol.

But the m3 is a proper driver's car ..... good luck!

 

Whoa 645, must be nice. Now that is a car I could let go of the racer for. I like the M because it is everything I could want in a car aside from well, the maintenance but hey it's better to deal with that then to have a rattle box. I won't be going with an SMG, just no way. I know some have had a problem free experience but I'd rather not risk it. My budget is not massive so the car will probably be out of warranty but still with reasonably low miles. I will be paying with paper presidents so I think that will make it easier too.

If the butter bar goes that far back for you and now you have a GT3 I would think you are, sheesh... an LTC, COL or even BG!
