So I sold my 2006 ZCP M3 about 2-3 months ago before prices really starting taking a nose dive and for these past months I have been contemplating my next car. I have narrowed it down to two cars that I really think will put a smile on my face everytime I drive them. A BMW M5 or a C6 Z06, now I know these are two totally different cars, but I would be happy with either one. I don't really need 4 doors, but I keep thinking about the exhaust on the M5 and it gives me chills, but then there is the raw power of the Z06.

Although I know ultimately it will come down to whatever is right for me, I would still like to hear some opinions from people who perhaps have had both cars or own both cars.

The M5 has similar performance to the Z06, the Z06 is faster in most instances, but given a regular driver vs. SMG and the M5 is the victor, plus the M5 is nicer inside (by a HUGGGGE margin, chevy interiors are still garbage) and it will hold value better - personally i wouldn't even need to second guess it and i would go with the M5... i don't even like the M5 that much and i would still go with it, plus the exhaust note with proper exhaust... is great

 

I came out of my turbo and got into an e60 M5. I love the bells and whistles. Navigation, Satellite radio, blue tooth, etc. The interior is much nicer and everything is leather and aluminum and alcantara. I'm almost sure the vette is not.

The BMW is fast once you get up to speed, but not as quick off the line as the turbo. I miss the turbo, but I like the M5. BTW, I get 10.4 mpg.

dude, Z06.. end of discussion. drive the car once and I am sure you will forget that you dont have bluetooth or some fancy shmancy this or that. the car looks gorgeous! I dont see how any 3000 some odd lbs car with 500hp will lose to a 4000 lbs saloon with the same hp and no tq. regardless of driver. unless the guy driving the Z06 is a complete moron.

 

Sell your E55 and get a vette then... it's such a lame car, buy an old mustang do some mods, it'll be fast as hell and still not have bluetooth or other fancy shmancy this or that's, same principle... lame

 

in any performance or track stat, the z06 will crush the m5, no contest. the m5 is a luxury car with a big v10 and a lot of tech. the m5s have absolutely tanked in value, so a used one would be a good deal.
