any e36/37 M Roadster owners here?
They're pretty rare cars.. actually very rare. Even more rare if you have the M Coupe, and even MORE rare if you have the M coupe with the 321hp motor from 99... there are literally like 40 of them left or something.
bmwmregistry.com is a great wiki site with lots of useful info.
The General info is: US Z3 M Coupe/Roadster
99-00 = S52 (E36 M3 Engine) 240hp 3.23 final drive
01-02 = S54 (E46 M3 Engine) 310hp 3.15 final drive (software detuned from the M3)
The early 99-00 Euro Models have the S50 which is a derivation of the S52 with ITB's and dual vanos IIRC. It put out 321hp stock.
There are less than 650 S54 powered M Coupes in North America.
Of those there are / were only 42 alpine white (the fastest color ;op )
Body Code:
The Coupe is E36/8
The Roadster is E36/7
The roadster was also available in 98 in limited quantities and only without traction control.
The car has an E36 M3 Front suspension and an E30 (semi trailing arm) rear suspension
And yes, the rear subframe is a noteable problem. It's actually the floor pan where the diff mount connects to the body. It can separate over time or under abuse. There are factory fixes and an aftermarket fix that you don't have to ever worry about again.
For posterity, here's mine....
