What is your DD?

alright, i really don't know where to post this topic but i have posted my M6 in here before and got a lot of responses relatively quick.

Here is my situation:
I pay for my mother's lease of a 2007 Lexus GX470 which is ending 01/10. I am looking to get out of the lease and purchase a car/suv for her. I've tried to get her into a sedan before the lease started but she was in a car accident many years ago and feels safer in an SUV. Long story short, i think she will be willing to get in a sedan now. My question is, what do you all recommend for her style driving and lifestyle.

-50 miles daily highway roundtrip for work
-100 lb Rottweiler who makes occasional trips with her
-she avg's 17.8 mpg in the GX (thats impressive)
-she is not flashy but going from a Lexus to a Honda is a no-no
-i would like to get her something SAFE
-would like to get around 25mpg
-she lives in NY (she feels safe bc of 4wd in the SUV)
-would like to stay away from Premium Fuel cars

I was looking at the BMW 530xi. Does it need Premium Fuel? it recommended it on a website that shows ever cars mpg.

thank you all for your help.

Hm, lots of requirements. Besides the M5 being my fun car we have a GMC Acadia, BMW 530I, BMW X5, BMW530XI, and a GMC Canyon. Get her a BMW 550

I would recommend an X5, G37x sedan or FX50..I took a look at a black FX50 a while back...very nice car..lots of gizmos to keep your mother entertained and safe...and alot of stuff come standard...lane departure assist...cameras from every angle etc...its got the attesa ets awd and 390hp...if she doesnt need the power..the FX35 can still be had..a lot cheaper and with prem, tech and sport package...it may be a lot cheaper than an X5...if money were no concern..id go with an X5 and the 4 year free maintenance helps too!

gnarf, the only problem with the x5 is that it will probably give her the same mpg that she is getting now. infiniti has stepped up there game i see, pretty nice options on that fx50

yea my mother also has driven x5's, rx330, lx470..she loves suv's as well...the problem is..its hard to find one that goes over 20mpg..even the lexus rx330 barely managed 19...but hey id sacrifice safety over a couple miles more to a tank...check out edmund's long term tests..i believe they have lexus rx400h, x5 4.8, fx50..you can read the blogs as they can sometimes help with giving you more information about actually owning one of those cars...rather than a short performance review...here is a link

btw sorry for the double post...but I, myself, have a g37...though i will probably trade it in for a GT-R, M3 or new RS5...Infiniti really has done a great job when it comes to the overall package of a vehicle...it offers more performance than the competitive Lexus, and more luxuries and looks than the competitive BMW..huge fan of the 335s though...but they really have stepped up a lot since the G20s...those cars were like rebadged altimas....don't be afraid to take a look at the G37x and the FX50s...both have the new 7 speed automatics and if not driven very hard...20mpg can be managable..

The other nice thing about a Hyundai Genesis is that they don't have a big H emblem in the grille, so she can still look flashy without people knowing she's driving a Hyundai
