He has an M5 , I would imagine he is in tune with the BMW M performance community.

And you have my favorite M5 , WOW....it doesn't get any better IMO than a real shift it yourself 6 speed, S62 S/C and Dinan stage 3 upgrades.

Read my post carefully. 'Wasn't so much "kidding". as being VERY sarcastic towards Ranger (I always enjoy "pulling his chain"), when he knows those S85 engines blew up, after having ASR's NOS pkg installed on stock internals. Yes, S85 is a fine engine; except where dumb mods stress the hell out of it, and the tuner won't stand behind their product.

'My favorite M5, too. It's my daily driver; owned it since new; been modd'd with Dinan stuff since Jan. '05 (over 4 years and 49k miles); and never a cough, let alone anything going wrong. Hell, even with these high level of mod's, 'never even thrown an SES light. 'Car is bullet proof. 'Expect to get many more years from it. Pure pleasure; every day.

NOS as in nitrous oxide? What size shot? I can see why the engines blew....spiking the cylinder pressure on an engine that already is high compression and on the edge from the factory....

I can only imagine what cylinder pressures would be at high rpm and with nitrous

Correct; ASR Engineering typically deploys 150 - 200 shot on their highest power mod pkg. Really dumb mod, IMO; especially since they don't offer any warranty for it, and don't stand behind their product when an engine blows up.

Nitrous can be run safely, if using all the safeguards it requires. But the extreme cylinder pressures at high rpm with the high compression ration leaves no room for error.

Driver error can blow that motor up too

Bighans56, if you want to hear the Dinan I can make a video but there are videos on youtube already

hey guys thanks for the replies, i am in my mid 20s, and my budget is 50-60k, i dont want a cts v. I also dont plan to track the car and do engine mods. Might get rims, tint, and black out tail lights if i get a white m6. But thats probably it. But the c63 intrigues me because it is new and the model wont change like the m6 will now.

Dan, Dan, Dan we've bucked heads for a long time but I always accept your expressed knowledge and respected you.
Now you grossly disappoint me and I have lost respect.

Your comments are totally moronic sir. You DO NOT know what you are talking about. You know nothing about the nitrous tune.

Since you want to bring it up so proudly, I'm referring to the dyno run w/ nitrous and cylinder damage in Texas. You know so much about this, have you talked to the owner. Call him and see what he tells you.
You do not know $h!t. That was dyno operator gross error but I know "the Dan" is perfect and omnipotent and knows all.

There have been close to 70 ASR nitrous kits installed and ZERO incident.
I have run nitrous for over 20,000 miles ( 20 lb. bottle / wk. ) and my car is perfect.
Right now a bigger project is underway. To think that I was stupid enough to confide in you about the motor project before is went public.
Sir do not EVER address me again.

I've always known you were a HATER. You wished and hoped for an ASR engine blow up. You now confirm what I've believed.
Regardless your "awesome" Dinan S3 E39 M5 can not beat an ASR 1/4 mile time and trap speed. You haven't and never will.
It will become eternally impossible with the new motor.

Now you want to challenge this topic, fine. I say to you this, if you have the testicular fortitude call ASR and have a discussion. State all your bull$h!t comments and the little pieces of info you "believe" you know.
I want Abid to evicerate you for being so ignorant.

Allow me to recap: You got an engine damage on a dyno and an M5 having engine problems totally unrelated to nitrous use.
Beyond that are there any others Dan? What are your facts?
Dan you know nothing about the nitrous tune performed by ASR.

To the other members permit me to say this. Nitrous is not for everyone. There have been more engines blown from turbos and overboosting than nitrous issues.

I know that Dan feels he knows everything and NOBODY can challenge him. Sadly Dan I use to give the credit but no way anymore. You blew it with your idiotic comments.
Come on, come on I want you to challenge ASR with your universal knowledge and perfection.

I see you now for what you are and that is a hater. You gave yourself away buddy.

Your Dinan S3 M5 and your beloved Dinan stroker CAN NOT BEAT an ASR M5/M6.
Additionally soon we will crush the your Dinan.

In conclusion, you've taken your stabs at me and ASR nitrous system.
Let me tell you, did you not expect a shot back? Did you think I was going to cower in the corner!!

I will say it for the last time!!! You sir will never adddress me again nor I you.
If you ever want to race, say so. Nothing friendly only serious to hurt and intimidate.

To hell with you,

Ranger

I am no nitrous newbie, but I do know the risks of running it...in the Vette community we have really pushed the limits of nitrous technology. I would be curious as to what safeguards are used with the ASR system.

germeezy1, if you are such an expert on nitrous I again urge you to contact ASR and "teach him what you know"!!!!
It fractures me to read of so many "experts" on nitrous. Add to this do any of you know anything about tuning a high performance car.

Allow me to explain, ASR does the software work!!! Opposite to other tuners who claim but they send it out!!!

None of you know anything about tuning the E60/R63 M5/M6 motors so therefore how can you make your moronic comments!

Come on, do you think you are smart? Challenge ASR about their "idiotic" nitrous set up?

You all make comments but you have NO IDEA what you are talking about.

Dan is talking out of pure hatred for the nitrous system with the eternal hope of failure. The only two cases he points out were not related to the rountine nitrous use.

I have used nitrous for a long time and ZERO problems. Plugs are changed every 10K miles and compression / leak tests are done and all have been perfect.

Forget the nitrous, the up coming ASR built motor is coming will take all comers. That means you Dan with your Porsche GT2 or whatever you have!!!!
If you haven't noticed, I am goddamn pissed. The ignorance displayed about nitrous tuning for the M5/M6 is amazing.
You know what, I had to spew my position but the truth is I do not G.A.S.
I will leave you all to your ignorance.

Frankly I'm tired of this discussion

Wow, calm down a little bit.....your directing your anger towards him at me ...I said I wonder what safeguards there nitrous system has.

I never said I was an expert, but there is alot more data out there than one company who tunes one car for nitrous. ASR is relatively new to the nitrous game, as is the S85.
