Trip to the Nürburgring
hey guys,
I`m planning to drive my own car (335i convertible) on the ring and would like to know which precautions are to be taken and which kind of checks should be made on the car prior to attending the "Touristenfahrten" at the Ring.
I never "abused" my own car,just did it with rentals..
but my main concern is : will the bimmer hold up?(brakes,suspension,engine etc.)
the only mods are : M-suspension and aerodynamics,Procede,drilled/slotted rotors + greenstuff brake pads on the front
+ exhaust
I mean,those BMWs aren`t built for the track and are IMO some real pussies..
The M divison cars are different,but well...I have no M
At the point where I would "use" a P-car or M,I would already abuse my bimmer...and that SUCKS!
any input on the Ring-preparation is welcome

the only thing i'd be worried about are the brake rotors. drilled and slotted rotors sacrifice a lot of structural integrity for the sake of style and weight. it isn't necessarily true of all drilled/slotted rotors, but in most cases it is. some rotors even come with a warning stating that they aren't made to be used in performance driving.
that said, the car should be fine and you shouldn't have any problems as long as the car is in good shape. afterall, the Ring is a public road. besides, you can take a van on it and push that to the limits if you really want to (gotta love Top Gear). just do your ruitine checks (fluids, tires, etc) and you should be good. my only concern would be your brakes, but how important are those?

ok...so I could change the rotors back to stock if that would be better...
upgrading to brembos is too pricy for not using this car as a track car...
what kind of tires would you use for the Ring?
I guess the Bridgestone Potenza Runflat tires are not the best option...
what about the Michelin Pilot Sport PS2?
