Handling seems crisper than my ML, but to be honest, its a truck so the ML handles good enough for me. The iDrive has a nice high resolution screen and its stereo is better than mine. However, I am not sure it's a better SUV for my purpose than my ML63. Maybe its the newness of the engine compared to the broken-in engine of my ML, but my truck seems quicker off the line by a noticeable margin. Maybe the ML is lighter?

I am going to take a look at the Cayenne Turbo S and see. I really want to like the X5 since I really like BMW's electronics. Maybe I need to drive a different one in case that particular one was too new or not tuned properly.

We'll see.
We drove them ALL. Over and over.

Then Drive the Cayenne Turbo S, for MORE then a tour around the block.

Try and get it for a day, or at least 1/2 day.

It's the best overall of the bunch. Handling, Comfort, Convenience, towing, and of course.. SPEED unless speed is not important.

I think the x6 x5 M are great alternatives to the cayenne. I always like the cayenne but the x6m x5m are def nothing to overlook. I'm in the market for one as well.

I think you've got the X5M confused with the X6M. The X5M, IMHO, looks very nice. The X6 (and X6M as well) look like the Aztec. But, to each their own.

CTTS is the better looking truck, but it has lots more body roll, isn't any faster, and costs 40K more than the X5M. I really dislike the front bumper on the X5M, but I have always been a function over form guy anyway.

This must be the angle you're referring to - where the X5///M looks a LOT better than the open mouthed Toureg, er Pepper. (and I've compared the better looking GTS)

Look familiar at all?

IMO, the cayenne comes out on top easily. When i went to look at the x5m, a women and her husband were there looking at the x5m...she noticed me get out of the cayenne gts and came up to me to say how much she liked it. she asked me a few questions and pulled her husband away to show him. long story short, they left the dealership to go down the street to look at a cayenne turbo.

As far as the 'subjective stuff'...go the an m3 forum where they compare the m3 to a nissan gtr. the gtr trounces every m car ever made in any performance figure, and prob will for some time, yet the m3 arguement always comes down to the 'subjective stuff', not to mention the 'rear seat and trunk space' arguements.

Glad you like your x5m, but not everyone is going to agree. I drove it and wasnt impressed with anything besides the straight line speed. interior didnt hold a candle as far as design, quality or fit and finish to the cayenne IMO.

I'm definitely not going to spend more time trying to convince you about anything.

We've had this conversation on another thread and it made my head hurt.

You (everyone) can buy whatever you (they) think is best.

If the CTS was $90K, I'd still buy the X5///M.

That's my opinion.

get a jeep SRT8 ... faster than both pos and looks and sound bad ***
mercedes engineering through and through 0-60 4.4 seconds
they run 12's with intake and cmr tune ( email tune)
x6/x5 M are garbage..people will start chipping them and watch the problems those turbos have..
nothing takes off out of the hole like a jeep srt8

Lmfao! Are you seriously going to compare these cars to an SRT8? I mean it is a great bang for the buck, but I would probably never choose the SRT8 over a x5m, x6m, ML, or Cayenne xD. Those cars are in a league of their own! Dont get me wrong, the SRT8 did suprise me and I wouldnt mind having one, but if im in the market for a bmw, porshe or benz, ill prob not get the SRT8.

I like both the x6m and X5M, both great cars, I had to get used to the x6 body styling tbh, but its finally sunk in and I really do like it. However the trunk space/room doesnt justify me buying it. I'd prob get the X5M as it seems to actually have a function compared to the x6m where i wouldnt be able to justify such a purchase! (It is an SUV after all)

You're actually saying that people should get a Jeep b/c the others are POS?? Hmmmm.

I will agree with you that the SRT8 is one very fast truck and can be made even faster with relatively little money. But that's about where it's appeal ends. It does nothing else better. If that's all you care about (speed) and you need an SUV then the Jeep is the one for you. If you care about fit and finish, refinement and exclusivity then you'll look elsewhere.

I also agree with ^^ that people wouldn't be cross-shopping the SRT8 with the other mentioned vehicles.

I can't imagine myself ever buying a CTT or an ML63. The X5m looks great though, imo. Maybe its just because i'm a younger buyer but I think bmw has it down pat for building a practical beast.

As a "younger" buyer I am loving our ML63. A friend just swapped her '05 Cayenne Turbo for one as well. Let me know if you want to take a closer look. I am downtown. A.

I took our redneck member's advice, sold my Aston and got me two Jeeps!!!!! One will be fitted with monster wheels and flames on the side!!!

On a serious note, my simple, plain 2005 X5 4.4i is faster than any everyday Montana vehicle on the road. I cannot imagine what 555 horses feel like but hope to find out very soon. I personally think that BMW had to come out and match the Cayene and the ML, and they did a great job. The shape of the X5 is waay far from any minivan or Aztec and with those new 315 rears it is a BEAST!!!
