V/max. 290 km/h ( series 250 km/h )
HAMANN SPORTKIT HM 670
Power increase up to 670 hp / 493 kW
Max. Torque 850 Nm at 1.500 - 5.650 rpm
V/max 300 km/h

HAMANN Sport rear muffler with 4 tailpipes
HAMANN Optimized curve maps specially for Sportkit HM 670
HAMANN Deactivation of standard 250 km/h speed limit
Will it sound like a N/A V10? Nope, but this kind of HP in an M5/M6 would show tail lights to a lot of cars.

I do miss the torque of my E39 M5......although I've learned to love my E60 M5 more. In most cars.....while driving normally on the street, when you come up to a right turn, slow down to about 20-25 mph, you would shift into 2nd gear...take the corner and then drive back up through the gears. In the E39 M5, it had so much torque that you wouldn't use second....you would use 3rd. I miss that. Wish they'd bring it back.
M5
besides the low-end torque, the sound of the V10 is like no V8 out there, especially with exhaust.. its a shame BMW has to move away from the naturally aspirated motors that the M division built itself on
Does anyone here think that BMW learned from their success with the 335i/135i?
This isn't going backwards. They aren't going to turn out a worse product.
I can recall many discussions about how people can just turn up the boost on their 335's, and dust M3's in a straightline (I know there is more to the M-series than a straightline, but in reality, the majority don't care about that - and sales reflect that).

i agree with you
i agree that the car will definately perform better and will be great... theres a chance it could be my next car as i have an 07 550i right now and love it... just loved the v10 torque and sound

Of course most of the cars listed above are exciting as is, but with FI, they would all be so much better IMO. My Z06 was MUCH more exciting to me after I supercharged it. I wouldn't even spend the money on a Viper, M3, Gallardo, or Murcialago unless I planned on SC'ing or TT'ing it, and instead of a GT3, I'd always get a GT2. Apparently, we're in agreement on the M3, or else you would have left yours N/A.

335, X5/X6M, upcoming M5.....BMW is finally starting to see the light. Good for them.

i havent read whole thread but is ther a difference between the new 550i and the m5 since they are both gonna have v8 twin turbos? sorry i dont know much on the cars havent looked into them too much
To me, "most" N/A cars are boring. Specifically, the N/A performance cars that I consider boring would be ones without much torque like M3s and E60 M5's. One man's "boring" is another man's "exciting". Different strokes....

I supercharged it because I wanted more power. More power doesn't necessarily equal better.
It is not BMW is starting to see the light, it is that BMW is seeing green. They don't believe FI is better, they simply had no choice.
Im sure whatever BMW makes will make sense. The sound of turbos is getting better I think. I was deciding between X5M and Cayenne. While test driving the X5M I realized they managed to make, IMO, a nice sounding engine. I hope as they get closer to making the next M3 and M5 they will work on the sound of the turbo/exhaust even more. While I understand turbos deliver power differently than NA cars, they are both cool in their own right. With that said...my current e90 M3 with an intake and Akrapovic exhaust makes me cream everytime I hit the gas! I go through full tanks like its my job just to listen to the engine. I hope they can produce a similar effect with the turbos and I truly believe they will. It will take a few days for us to get used to it, but with technology today Im sure they can produce some of the same feelings of NA cars in turbo cars. Or at least I hope. Im not too concerned as everytime something new comes out it is a worry and then it winds up being great!
A positive outlook!

There are two (current) 4.4 liter twin turbos that may be used by BMW. The new 55X sedan would likely get the 'little' engine and the 'M' will get (a likely boost-increased) derivative of the current X5M/X6M powerplant.
4.4 liter, V-8 engine, 400 hp
(An apparent typo or foreshadowing on BMW's site listing it as 440 hp)
The all-aluminum, 4.4-liter V-8 engine yields 400 horsepower at 5,500 rpm, and 450 lb-ft torque at 1,750-4,500 rpm.
or....
M-Power V8 Turbo Engine - 555bhp
The M Power V-8 Turbo comes from the M side of the family. Which means the BMW X5 M is genetically blessed with an impressive 555-hp. The engine provides direct power pulses from the exhaust to the intake through the turbos, providing the high power output with virtually no turbo lag.
Brace yourself.

not happy at all, ///M has moved away from their routes, that being said, i prefer the high strung NA motor and dont care about 1/4 miles or trap speeds, ill tell you this from owning an m6, from 100 mph on the car was FAST

The M5/M6 will be RWD and DCT. Lighter, more efficient drivetrain = faster.
