I'd wait for that M4. Car looks stunning. You know there is going to be enough improvements. Ask yourself if you can wait, and if the wait is worth it.

 

i'd order a m4 as soon as possible. they will sell like hot cakes

m3 prices are already heading south and will go through deeper depreciation once majority of them come of the lease. you can see it in the 2009 and 2010 already

 

Having been so fond of the E92 M3, I would also wait for the M4. I'd be interested to hear what folks would regard as the equivalent model in the 991 range?

It's going to sell very well don't have many doubts there. It comes down too you though it's a new car but it won't be miles ahead of the E92 M3 (that you can pick up for low 30s).

If you aren't a fan of turbo motors it's probably not the car for you as it's almost 100% confirmed it will have a TT inline 6.

The experts are saying between 450-480hp so up too you if you'd rather have a N/A V8 or a TT 6cyl as the cars will be rather different but performance wise the E92 M3 will not be that far behind. Good luck with your choice Can't go wrong with either imo

The new M4 is one bad machine! I know it gets away from the V8, but its gonna be a beast! Wait till the parts start coming out for it!!

Either way, the E9x will just continue to drop in value if you decide you don't like the new M4.

 

They all drop in value for sure- I figure if I bought the 13 at 70- a year later with low miles it would be 55-60 at best- also looking at a used 13 with stick 300 miles at 60 or so.

 

I could get close to 30% off on a brand new E92 M3 here in China... I still rather wait for the M4!

 

Finally decided to defer purchase of 13 M3 and wait for M4, even though there is room in garage for another vehicle. Interesting how people on ebay think their 12/13s used are worth almost msrp. There will be a glut of these for sale/traded when the new car comes out.

 

I think the new M4 will be terrific, but it will have a bit of a different persona than the outgoing M3 due to the turbo engine...for better or worse. Probably mostly better, but the new M5 is not getting such amazing reviews as it once did back in the E39 days. It will be bigger than the E92 so if size is a factor consider that as an aspect of the car. I think the exisiting cars are pretty good value for what they deliver in performance terms and the new one will be a ton more expensive than a mint used E92. As for depreciation, I don't think the E92 will depreciate any more or less fast than it has been. The car is great, will always be great, and so will be in good demand. It will just keep on the path it is already on, with big first year depreciation followed by normal declines over time (imo).

I'd love an M4 at some point, but for me that is years away. I hope they keep putting a sunroof on it at least as an option, for me that is a deal breaker.

actually, based on the rumors going around, the new M3/M4 will blow the E92 out of the water.
It is going to be 100-150 lbs lighter (they are targeting E46 M3 weight) and have 100 more lb/ft. of torque.
Plus it's a turbocharged engine so mods will be very effective.
my guess is that within 2-3 months of the launch you will already have tunes that will bring the car to ~500 hp.

 

There are people looking for newest, faster. The m4 by definition will be those things.
V8s, 10s, and 12s, will be replaced by smaller, forced induction engines with 4 or 5 more gears. The kids will point to numbers and statistics, feeling more connected to data points, youtube arguments, and magazine articles than the actual visceral feeling of rowing through gears with a high revving v8 burbling in front of and behind you.
I'm gonna keep mine. I like it. The m3 is my car. There are many like it, but this one is mine.

 

Well after 3 weeks of back and forth leased the 2013 leftover M3 coupe - got it at dealer cost which on bmws is only 7.5% of list. Residual is 61%. Car has DCT but would prefer a manual- have had 5 manuals so this will be a change.
White with black interior with red inserts which is not as loud as my last 13 with all foxred. I will have to keep this for 3 years which is a long time for me.
