Damon, thanks for shipping out the Pirelli pzero neros...awaiting em now.. Few questions...

On the 750Li currently, it has 285 /21" rears and 245 / 21" fronts. Pirelli you stated, and two other board sponsor wheel guys also stated that zero neros only come in 295 and 255 for the 7. How did I wind up with these sizes. Perhaps that is why the front blew.

Are they non certified tires? If so how would I find out by looking at the tire? Also, would the dealer be liable for non certified tire damage?

So you stated the rears should have been 295's. Now I have to put two 255's in the front though only one blew out. So will I have too much oversteer, or should I get the 295's for the rears as well.

I will inquire with Perillo BMW if they will cover the damage, but I would like to find out if these tires are DOT approved or certified or whatever.

THanks
SHank

I put in a call for you Ryan and Pirelli NA says that the 245/35/21 and 285/30/21 are OEM AND are still being produced.

I'm just passing on info from them...

Shank-

Does the serial number on the side of the tire start with "DOT?" If so, they are legal and certified to sell in the US.

What exact model Pirellis are they? P- Zero Rosso, P-Zero Rosso Asymetrco, P-Zero Rosso Direzionale, or P-Zero Rosso Direzionale (I know, thanks Pirelli for making it this complicated).

What are the complete front and rear sizes you are using now, and what is the GAWR listing for the front and rear axle as listed on the doorjamb of the car. With this I'll determine the proper load capacity and if they presently meet it.

I suspect they are probably OK to use, but won't offer as much give to potholes as a 255/295 combo will. 245/285 has to be VERY low-profile, and will be close to being too short to support the weight of that big, heavy car. Sorry for all the hoops, but I need this to help you get to the bottom of the mystery.
