I am looking to get into a used e39 m5 as my daily driver. How do you like your cars and are there any prone issues that I should be aware of with these cars? I was lookng at 2003 w/ 25-30K on the clock.
thanks

Only issue is clutch wear. Have it checked. I loved mine, great car, '03 is the best year, pull the trigger if price is right.

I agree, have an 03 and love it. Check out M5board.com. Great site. Many dual surfers between 6speed and M5.

I've got an '02 daily driver. Love it. I havn't had any major issues, but have seen that these cars can be quite expensive to maintain when they hit higher mileage.

Great daily driver...be sure to upgrade to a SSK and exhaust. Then it's perfect!

thanks everyone for the advice

I have a question about interior upgrades for 2003. I have seen it with two different seats one sportier looking vs the vertical tube style seats. were the sport seats an option?

One of the nicest cars ever. Solid and still near supercar performance.

Funny that he says it's the only one ever made. I busted out my cell phone over a year ago and took a snap shot of a Dakar Yellow E39 M5 going down a road in lonely reno, NV.

The sport seats come with two different leathers montana/nappa and with the sport seats you can't get full leather i.e dash, doors center console etc.
If you get the luxury trim you get all nappa leather and every surface in leather BUT the window shades are not available with this option.
the sport seats and luxury seats are same just look different.
any more Q p.m me

I love the E39 M5. I like the looks of this car more than the new M5. Just lower away on some 19s or 20s dished out is all it really needs.

I had a 2000 Dinan S2. That car was a beast. My particular car had many issues with the MAF and O2 sensors.
