BMW 525 - Total Crap

Hey guys,

I'm obviously an Audi guy (have an A4) and I won't lie, the car has its faults. However, the interior of my car is what sold me on the model. I went to my local BMW dealer to try the 5-series, as I'm looking to upgrade due to the small space of my car.

I like the way the car drives and the sporty suspension. I don't like the super-stiff steering feel, as I'm too used to my Servotronic. I-Drive is the stupidest thing ever made by man, and the big I-Drive **** feels like it's about to break off in your hand.

The quality of the interior is POOR. There are big gaps where the inside panels don't fit correct and the plastic looks and feels cheap. The wood is only available in only two colors - both of them dark - and it is placed in the car as to imply it has wood, not because it is aesthetically pleasant. The plastic/vinyl/etc. that is colored to match the leather is puketastic, not to mention the black upper-dash. Every single thing I touched felt cheap and uninspiring and cold.

Again, I loved the ride and the responsiveness, but seeing how I will be spending more time inside the car than simply subject to the suspension and handling and so on, it would be a poor decision on anyone's part to choose it over a competing model. The Infiniti M surely would be a better pick than this.

My two cents.

Imagine an Audi interior/body with a BMW drivetrain/chassis.

Wow, that would be the perfect car.

Why would you even consider a E60 525? That car is a dog and overpriced. Did you drive the E90 yet?

I had a new 530i for literally 3 weeks before I launched it. Thought it would be a good road car that is not too flashy. 1000 miles later it was gone......

Re:

If you value a car based on the interior, Mercedes does a much better job.

i like bmw interiors better than audi. audi's are a bit boring. u sit in a vw gti and it's pretty much what u get in the a4, 6... 8 is the real difference maker.

quality of materials? bmw picks 'em different which doesn't make it worse and in my opinion they've done better.

now let's talk about the depreciation on audis even with their so-called awesome interiors. LOL

This line disqualified you as anyone who knows anything about cars.

New BMWs don't have the interior, or the exterior, but they sure have the engineering.

Infiniti M is a NICE car! Checked them out when picking up my FX.
I work at BMW of Vancouver, so I am in and out of newer Bimmers often. They are nice inside, but not as nice as the competition.

Mercedes have beautiful interiors, but so boring to drive (sans the AMG models).

I think Infiniti M is a good combination of sport and luxury in the size you demand.

BMW's are simple and clean--i actually like the look as compared to glitz and buttons of the competitors. MB ,lexus, and infiniti definitely have nicer interiors looks , but the BMW's do everything you would want a car to do. I agree the new GTI I saw reminded me a lot of my friends new A4 on the inside. check the lexus gs or es--why are you not getting the A6?
