The E46 M3 was given the "facelift" trunk with the longer trunk handle and LED taillights, but it did not get the "facelift" headlights and fenders.

Interior changed on the e39 facelift as well. Wider NAV screen changed the look of the dash. Also steering wheel changed and gauge cluster background color changed. There may be other things that I'm forgetting as well.

finally proper LED tail lights and signals ... the incandescent lights really are out of style.
lower it on a set of BBS/OZ wheels and you're done.
i like the aston martin style shiny black interior bits, but alas the E39 is better looker in and out

I think they now come with M6 wheels because some of the new facelifted M5's in Middle East all have M6 wheels.
