I got a question...

I posted this on the leasing forum and I am still wating for a response, so I am going to try here.I will be returning my BMW lease (545i) in a few months. I am about to buy a new set of tires for the car. It came originally equiped with crappy run flat tires which were recalled half way during the lease, so this is my first time buying tires for this car. My question is: can I change from original tires (runflats) to a regular good quality tire without getting into truble when I return the car? I ask my dealer and, off curse they say they will need the car to have the original brand tires, is that my problem? the diference in cost is significant.

InfamousD is infamous around these parts
i am not super knowledgeable about leases but there should be a clause in there where it requires that you return the tires in certain condition. first make sure what those requirements are since sometimes they are only like 4/32nd so you may be ok. if not call your dealer and ask. also, if you do put regular tires, be sure to buy one of the ///M mobility kits since you dont wanna be driving around with no runflat tires and no way to go if you get a flat.

I bought a used set of tires. I only have a couple K left on my mileage and no way I was shelling out 1000 for new tires. Used ones are great, think I paid 500 for the set and they were near new. One had a patch but my old ones had a couple of patches so no problem.

I wish I had thought about this a few months ago. My rear tires are almost ready to go. At almost 400.00 per tire I would be better off buying this rims, but they will make me buy new tires any way.

The car has a spare tire, so it would not be a problem.

The car has the sports package, which means diferent sizes front and back. This makes finding a set very difficult. I will try.

I think I used Ebay, but I did have to hunt around a bit but they were not very hard to find. I only had 4K left on my mileage when I put them on and they are the OEM tires. I don't have my lease in front of me but I very seriously doubt they care what brand tire you use as long as it is the appropriate size.

Last time I had the car serviced I had them look it over and even though my 19"s are all curbed he said no worries, the only thing he thought I would need to do is pay $250 to have the door dings and a small dent in the trunk lid touched up. I am not expecting any heat at all.
