I do apologize for this bit about customers, WheelB, in that I thought you were planning to sell this and using the thread for some (very extended) publicity. That said, I know I'm not the only one who feels like you should just post whatever results you have; 5 days turning into 5 weeks on a public forum is more than just bad form, imho, and you should expect some flack for it. Not that I don't wish you luck, but I have no idea why you don't just post what you came up with...

I think the better question was why put up a teaser so soon when you had no intention of making quick work of the project .....def doesn't look too good

The idea of the forum is to share info. No wonder some are irritated about not sharing it. Forums would be dead if there would not be information about work in progress. There is always something more to add to a project. Many projects are never "ready".

However, one can interpret some info about this project. I would guess that he is not satisfied with it, because it has been difficult to have a proper reflash. It could make sense to cooperate with someone competent piggyback tuner just to custom make a good map to go with the changes.

So tuning the 335i is not an option yet. At least without first making sure that there is someone who can offer either a reflash or a piggyback retune to suit the hardware changes.

well to give some light .. turbos work perfect .. exhaust and down pipe perfect intake perfect. ..now the re flash ..our re flash works and make 310 hp to the floor with nothing else. .we added bigger turbos and thats where the issues arose ..we still make power but its not tunable with the OEM ecu at the moment ..we have found a way to over ride OEM setting which is being done now but the new ecu wont be available for 2-3 weeks...so for the moment the project is at a stop until new ecu comes in ..we can boost up to 18lbs on OEM ecu but after driving the car for a little the car goes into limp mode and shuts down power. .thats our only problem ..now with new ecu we should be good ..-but the car drives perfect and is driving its at my shop and anyone is welcome to come take a spin in her ..its just not at optimal potential just yet ~!!!

i'm sure when he said they have no major problems he meant they have no major MECHANICAL problems...otherwise the car wouldn't be running "perfect" (minus the software issues). and it appears the "limp mode" problem has already been addressed...its just a matter of time before the new ECU arrives.

310whp with a reflash only is good. You have probably needed to increase the boost for that? So by upping the boost even more you have hit the ceiling?

In 335i tuning with piggybacks it seems that they get to high boost levels, but the problem is that the boost cannot be held up in the rev range because of the small turbos. The boost they use in the peak power rpm is not much beyond the stock boost (whereas the boost at low rpm is very much higher than stock) I would think that you would not need a lot more boost with those upgrades to get a nice increase in hp. The amount of boost that some tuners use in low rpm (13-14 psi) would be more than adequate if that could be had in peak power rpm.

As far as I know EVC www.evc.de has managed to get the 335i Ecu checksums ok, but they do not know yet how to reprogram the ECU. It would be nice to be able just to reprogram ECU to avoid the need to replace it, but nobody knows how much it would take time, so waiting is not an option.

When upgrading the ECU it could make sense to keep an eye for the option of altering VANOS. There are rumors that altering VANOS would reach big gains even without any other upgrades than a remap. In your case with all the upgrades the head might become a bottleneck. You might be able to increase the flow of the head by appropriate VANOS remap. For that purpose one needs to have a high-end ECU, with enough I/Os. Hope you get the car running well. There is no reason to guess the resulting power at this time. The power can be increased later on, if you don’t get your tires spinning… which I’m sure you do J

Thinking of it, I was not able to figure any aftermarket ECU that could handle the direct injection of 335i. Any ideas?
