Okay, i'll add in what i know here.

The CSL makes 360HP as opposed to 343HP (DIN). This is due to the CF intake box and snorkel, beefier cams (282intake/270exhaust instead of 270/262), and different headers.

The CSL weighs 3080lbs instead of the standard M3 Coupe's 3415. This is from the CF roof, CF interior bits, different seats, lightweight glass, no AC, removal of most sound deadening, and other little things.

The CSL comes in SMG only. Programming remains the same as the other M3's.

It can be imported to the US as a track-only car. It cannot be registered for street use because it lacks side airbags and did not pass emissions testing. Crash standards are the same as US-spec M3's.

The CSL does run on Alpha-N engine management software. This is similar to but NOT the same as a speed-density or MAP sensor setup. It reads the throttle position and adjusts the fuel curve accordingly. Because it is only taking one direct reading and not waiting for the MAF to change its output based on the air flowing around it, throttle response is MUCH quicker. Having no MAF in the air stream also allows for a smoother airflow into the engine. Not to mention that nobody makes a MAF that is large enough to fit inside that beautiful CF airbox anyway.

Alpha-N tuning is pretty common on E46 M3's. Most supercharger kits disable the MAF and run the car strictly on the throttle position and a fuel map. This is because it is DIFFICULT at best to tune for the MAF and all the fuel-trimming algorithms that go along with it. I have also heard from Active Autowerke that the airstream coming from the supercharger is turbulent and this causes fluctuations in the MAF readings, making the tuning not as efficient.

The CSL also has a suspension that is stiffer and more adjustable than the stock one. Anti-roll bars are also stiffened up.

The CSL wheels share the same part number as the ZCP package in teh states for the rear. The fronts, while of the same design, are 1/2" wider on the CSL.

I will add in other info if it comes to mind.

My understanding is that you now have to show a VIN as well as some form of legitimate proof of ownership.

Steering rack on CSL is also quicker than regular M3 but same as ZCP. Also, there's a rumor that BMW hand picked the engines for CSLs from their assembly line for the strongest and most consistent output. Try searching on European forums.

I use to import OEM CSL parts back when the car first came out. It was a major PITA to get anything from BMW. Im not sure if things have changed but we had to obtain a CSL Vin # w/ owner info to even get things processed through the BMW "CSL" system over in Germany. Not to mention, the parts are extremely expensive, especially with the strengthening of the Euro vs. USD.

No US dealer is going to get those parts for you.

I would recommend higher-end aftermarket stuff, like Vorsteiner.
