"Rock protectors"

Correct me if I'm wrong, are there suppose to be some sort of 'rock protector' on the side of our cars? right next to the side vents?

yes, it's suppose to have clear 3m product near the vent.
unless your dealer took it off during PDI.

Alright back to Manhattan Porsche...they resprayed the side and left those two 3M clear bra stuff out and now there are rock chips on the actual paint....Are they responsible for the rock chips since they didn't apply it to the car or am I?

How long ago did they paint? I had the side of my car repainted, and we elected to leave the guards off for a few weeks for the paint to cure more thoroughly (my uncle owns said body shop) Reason being, the paint off-gasses, and it will cloud and bubble the stoneguard (which is very noticeable on black) However, I have no idea if that is their rationale; probably they forgot.

Wow that sucks. Were you driving upstate? The roads around NY have been pretty clean lately thanks to the rain. I didn't realize that area was so exposed.

I hope the dealershiip makes things right for you. If they respray and need to wait a bit before applying the film, I would just put blue painters tape over the area as a temp solution. It would look bad, but better than having chips!
