Need your opinion on custom exhaust and rear bumper
I guess it would be appropriate if I had a 3.8 or an X51 dropped into the boxster
....still not sure. I guess if I hated it I could buy another bumper and put stock exhaust back on.

When the Boxster first came out, the one thing I didn't like about it was the central tailpipe. That changed over time and now more high-performance cars seem to be using this configuration (GT3, Lamborghini Murcielago, etc.). I still like the way dual exhausts make the car appear lower and wider though.
Would this be done using a kit of some sort? Or would your exhaust and bumper be completely custom made? It's something I may explore just for something different.

It would take custom exhaust work as well as bumper cutting. Nothing "out of the box" available.

Looks OK, but it seems to me you'd be spending a lot of money to make your car more "conventional".
Good point. I have a "bug" that makes me want to just be different.
When the Boxster came out, I thought it was unique and always loved it. To me it fits the theme of just having a nice butt whereas the 911s have nice hips. Also, as noted above, more high-performance cars are using this (Veyron and others).

I would look at it this way. Do you like it? Are you planning on keeping the car for a while? Are you OK with spending the cash, and probably not getting anything out of it when you sell it? Bolt on modifications are easy to remove, but really custom stuff like this that's non reversable is hard to find someone with the same taste to sell the car to later on down the road. That being said, you could do what I normally do. Go for it man, pay the price later, or if your luckiy you forget what it cost byt the time you sell it. Buy high, put a pile of money in it and then take it in the shorts on the way out. I thought I would grow out of it as I get older, but it has just allowed me to get into "projects" that are more expensive. Run like the wind, post pics and clips when your done!
