P-Car on P-Car Ettiquette

So what are you supposed to do when you drive by/pass another P-Car owner?

Wave?
Smile?
Pretend to ignore them?

I passed another sweet boxster on I-84 two weekends ago and they flashed their highbeams at me. I saw a 996 C4 in oncoming slow traffic and waved, and they waved back (while being embarrassed)....

Thumbs up

Well, it would be nice to get some sort of recognition I got a headlight flash once. Other than that, Nothing Usually get ignored lol. I think people with porsches need more enthusiasm. Not the stuck up attitude. WAKE UP PEOPLE and REPRESENT!!!!!

In the 997 I used smile, wave and/or flash highbeams depending and got a response about half the time (some people seemed pretty surprised actually).

I still want to wave but am not sure how it would be received now..

I am amazed by the number of boxter/cayman owners who snub my GT3 when they get a flash...perhaps, they are not enthusiasts yet...

i think there is too much pecking order perception in the Porsche sphere. when i had my 4s, the Boxster people never seemed to respond. Now that i am in a Boxster, the 911 people seem to snub.

maybe i need a plate that says my other car is a GTS! - NOT - we own these for their DNA and nothing else.

i try to wave at everyone. they usually wave at me too. occasionally i'll get the snub. there is a black gt3 that waves at me every day on may way to work. we've been passing each other and waving for 3 years now. maybe one day we'll be at the same gas station at the same time so we can actually say hello!

in Toronto here where Porsches are still considered pretty rare, when driving around with my dad they've always waved to each other or honk.

I remember a few times in our C4S Cab where other guys would come up beside us and they'd both absolutely floor it

the old days ...

But Porsches are everywhere in Vancouver. If we waved or smiled everytime we passed one another I would be having serious cramps by the time I get to work. I think I must see at least one every other minute on my way to work.

i always recognize another porsche and remember my dad doing the same in his 911sc back in 1982. when i first got my cayman s i was getting on to the freeway being passed by a 997 turbo. i was stoked that he let up on the gas as he passed me and gave me a nod.

Same here. I live in the San Fernando Valley and one day, just out of curiosity, I counted Porsches in traffic on my 15-mile commute home and spotted 34 (not including Cayennes). If I waved at every one my hands would never be on the wheel.
