Angry Tech art wheels

I recently changed the wheels on my 99 boxter to Techart formula 18" looks fantastic. Never noticed until today the front two wheels have diffrent offsets, out by almost 14mm (3/8"). Now I must seek out one wheel or pair, in the meantime is there anything wrong in adding a spacer on one side only. The rim and tires sizes are the same.

I was so deligent in examing the wheels for cracks and even when to a independant garage to do the swap, I thought I was lucky in my find, gess not. Any advise appreciated.

I think I have read here before that someone crack their TA front wheel and they are able to buy just 1 wheel from CEC. You should contact them just to make sure.

Of course you can buy just 1 wheel. You can also buy a spacer from techart but I don't think you can buy just one. you would also need longer bolts.

Any harm to the car, by adding the spacer only, the diffrence is hardly noticable as you only look at the car from side at a time.

I wouldn't do it personally... it's kind of a half-assed way of addressing the problem and it's possible it could result in some handling issues. I'd be worried that the rim widths might also be different, are the tires the same size? I'd fix it right and get two matching wheels in the front and then sell the extra you have. Do you have any recourse to go back to the seller to get this resolved? If someone sold me different wheels like that I'd be pissed!

unless ur tracking the car, spacers arnt the best idea.

but if driving aroudn the streets its perfectly fine. as long there is enough hub where the wheel sits on and longer bolts. you are fine.

But in your case. ide just buy 1 new wheel with the same offset and specs as the other wheel.

Thanks for all your comments, for now it's stored with spacer as it bugs me. Not sure if any one can break down what these #'s mean on the inside of the rims, the back two read 05405021 and front two that are diffrent offsets read 0545015 and 0545017 the later one with bigger offset.

I've check Techart site, for 986 wheels. They have 2 options for front wheels, both are 18 x 8.5. Offset are ET50 and ET40. I think you have one of each.

Art.-Nr.: 096.210.858.040/086 ET40
Art.-Nr.: 096.210.858.050/086 ET50

Dont mean to hijack the thread. But do you guys know if the black Formula is painted or powder coated? I am going to get a wheel cleaner so I need to know exactly what it is, to prevent from using the wrong one.
