Don't make my mistake...
I set up a service appointment with the dealership for this morning to bring in my car...
I was doing some routine checking on the car and such and found that when I turned the switch to reverse fogs (pull & turn right 2 clicks) only one bulb turned on... I pulled the piece out on the burnt out side, and there wasn't even a bulb in there! Was kinda disappointed that they missed that on the CPO checklist... went to autozone, picked up new bulbs, put it in, and it didn't light up! Swapped the good bulb on the left side to the right, STILL didn't light up...
I get to my appt this morning and the service advisor says "They only have one reverse fog... It's a Germany thing, where if it's on, it lets them know it's okay to pass...
Boy did I feel stupid, LOL... of course how else would I have known... building a light unit that has an empty socket because it never gets used seemed pretty stupid to me...

You might want to check with the local POPO.
There may be resttrictions as to what type of lights you can have on the bck of the car (size, distance apart, height from the ground etc).

I see people in Porsches and Mercedes driving around town with their rear fog light on and I bet they don't even know it. I don't know about Mercedes, but for Porsche, pull the light switch out one click for front fog lights, and another click for the rear fog light. This works independent of turning the **** to activate the regular lights.

I grew up overseas. It is a bit brighter than the regular rear lights for when it is really foggy on the highways. Traffic has a tendency to stop or slow abruptly on the autostrada or autobahn. Most if all European cars have it. It has nothing to do with passing. It is just a brighter light so that the guys coming up on you from the rear will see you sooner.
