Newbie...Few Questions

There are some really great deals going on for 08's and I am trying to decided whether or not to get an 08 S or an 09 Base (Possibly S).

Any thoughts or opinions? How is the performance between the two?

Thanks!

the 09's with PDK are beasts! (if you are considering auto) if not, the 08S should be fine but the 09's are a notch better.

+1 with what 06cs said I also like all the new design improvements on the 09 ,the rear tail lights ,the Rear diffueser ,Wheels PDK except the new Rear view morrors They are just a little too big for my taste .
all the 09 models have larger outside mirrors due to a NEW safety law .
*my 1st choice....09 S model with lighter options then a 08 myself .I think the 09 with the Improved HP and better resale value is an important factor to consider. IMO 09 S with minimum options ,Thats what the aftermarket products are for you can always customize it YOUR WAY in the future
*my 2nd Choice .. 08 S model for sure
*3rd choice ...An 09 Base model also has some great Improvements as well .
If I went 09 Base 2.9 liter I would order from germany for sure . 6 speed, Xenon lights ,colored Gauges and maybe the aerokit that would be a cool ride as well .if you cannot fork out the 09 S model $$$ The 09 2.9 liter has the Same Brakes as the S model in 09 !! and 255 HP up from 245 in 08

You can now order a 2010...The 2010's now come with fat PDK style steering wheels standard on 6-speeds!

Is the brake pedal really that small and close to the gas pedal that it's hidden behind the steering wheel in that pic? Something does not look right about it .

i'd go 09, get the PCM 3.0 w/ ipod + bluetooth + navigation, LSD, PASM, 6spd. that's pretty much all you need.

I think people always say buy the newest you can afford. I just got a '08 S for ~30% off SRP - never titled and nicely equipped. For me, even with the 1.9% financing and avg. 10% off SRP, I couldn't justify spending $10-13k more for a similarly equipped '09.
When I was shopping around, majority of the dealers I called weren't desperate to drop their pants just to close the deal - most dealers stuck to ~5% off the asking. I made reasonable offers (8 - 10% off asking) to a number of dealers and only 1 or 2 dealers called back to re-negotiate (@ the 5% off). Call around,... you may have different experience than me. GL!

+1 on the '09.

I test drove an '08 and '09 back to back when I was looking. For me, the styling and the HP updates to the 2009 CS were well worth the extra $$$.

As you can see by my sig, I went the "lightly optioned" route, got a great deal and will hit up the aftermarket some upgrades as well.

Whichever you choose, you'll be getting a fantastic car. Good luck!

do you guys think any differently with what's been going on with the VW PDK's? there was a segment on Good Morning America the other day reporting that new VW's with PDK's have been dying on the road (with very few miles on them), a few even on the road home from the dealers

I know Porsche quality is different than VW quality, but I wonder if it's the new technology phenomenon working here. I, myself, am a mechanical klutz, so I don't know how these things work, but I will rely on my hopefully better informed bretherns for more info. Any thoughts guys?
