TPC ATPL Turbo on a 2.7 Liter Cayman
Subscribereceived an email from my installer indicating that the turbo kit's anticipated arrival couldn't have been any better. he is about to finish some major jobs which would put my installation on the front row. my installation should then go quickly
if everything goes well, my installation could be done before the end of the month!
if everything goes well, my installation could be done before the end of the month!my TPC turbo kit arrived about a week early.
TPC originally indicated that they were scheduled to ship the kit on tuesday and that the ETA was the 17th. however, my installer informed me today that the kit arrived at his shop (i requested that the kit be delivered to the installer). although my installer has already installed one of the kits, he sounds almost as excited as i am. notwithstanding his excitement, he will leave the honors of opening the boxes to me, which i plan to do tomorrow.
my problem now is rearranging my ride home from the installer's shop and the car i was planning to borrow, both of which were scheduled for next week, in anticipation of receiving the kit on the 17th.

thanks! presumably, my installer will do most of the work during the day while i'm at the office, consequently, i won't be able to take photos of the installation. however, i'll ask the installer to take photos of the more notable aspects while he installs the kit. if he is able to do that, i'll post those pics.Originally Posted by Porschepet

i opened the boxes to my turbo kit. the kit came in two boxes; one contained the exhaust components and the other had the other parts (turbo, waste gate, injectors, brackets, etc.)
i'll drop off my car tomorrow and the installer will give me a ride home (we live in the same neighborhood). he'll probably start work on friday and anticipates completing the installation by next week friday.
cant' wait!

i plan to stop by the shop after work today to check on the progress. the estimate i got was that the car should be ready by friday depending on their workload (the number of other cars that are in the shop)...it could be done before fridayOriginally Posted by Porschepet

or after
...i'll know more after my visit today.the installer has encountered a delay. about 4 to 5 years ago, he took on an associate (prior to that he was a one man operation) and started scheduling jobs based on what they both could do.
unfortunately, the day after i dropped off my car, the installer's associate needed to attend to some personal issues and was out of the shop for about a week. the installer had to reschedule jobs and work on what was in the shop by himself (he was burning the midnight oil). he wasn't able to do much on my car
, but now that his associate has returned they have been able to clear out the backlog. needless to say, they were not able to complete the install on my car by friday as originally promised. they now estimate that the installation will be completed early next week.
the best laid plans....
i feel like a kid who was promised a trip to disneyland last week, but was told that it has been delayed til next week

this kind of stuff always happens .especially when there is huge anticipation , I was told 3 to 4 days for my Gt-3 front bumper install and paint but ended up being over a week ! I always fall back on the "Well as long as its done right"
I think I would rather have 2 techs working on the Turbo install myself ,having someone to feed off of is always a good idea .
Just think though, next week ,History will be made ,THE FIRST 2.7 Liter Turbo Cayman will be racing through the Hawaii streets
Sweet !!
