thanks. in the meantime, i'll just "pretend" that i'm getting 35 mpg.

btw, no new impressions after day 2 of driving my "new" cayman turbo (albeit still in traffic). i hope to stretch its legs some time this weekend. but to recap my initial impressions, pulls strongly on hard acceleration, a little bit more exhaust sound in the passenger cabin, and a little bit more vibration but nothing obnoxious. basically, it runs almost like stock in traffic when not on boost.

Week 1 update

its been about 7 days (equivalent to a week) since i picked up my car from the installer after he installed the tpc racing low pressure turbo system (w/o the intercooler). here are my impressions based mostly on "normal" driving on surface streets and in traffic, with short sessions of drives where i could "stretch" its legs:

there is no cel or strange sounds...everything appears to be operating within specs.

the exhaust note has a deeper, more aggressive rumble (w/o being obnoxious), which increases in volume under acceleration. i do not perceive any exhaust drone.

i perceive a little more vibration, mostly under acceleration.

otherwise, the car drives like stock under "normal" driving conditions, while under hard acceleration, i feel the extra power (although its not "pin you in your seat" acceleration, i nevertheless feel the extra power).

the display indicates that i'm averaging over 35 mpg. casey indicated that they are aware of the issue and are working on a patch. when the fix is ready, they'll inform me.

don't know if this has anything to do with the installation or the turbo system, but i now notice either a mist, steam vapors, or light smoke around the headlights when i leave the house early in the morning (4:00 a.m.) and when i get to the gym (4:20 a.m.). morning temperature is probably in the high 70's. i don't notice it during the day when the sun is out. when i take it back to the installer after 500 miles, i'll inform him.

don't know if this has anything to do with the installation or turbo system either, but the remote/central locking system intermittently "behaves" strangely. a couple of mornings as i'm leaving, i notice that the interior lights are on and the doors are not locked even though i locked them the night before (i always physically check to make sure the doors are locked by pulling on the handles...that's how i'm sure that i locked the car the night before...its my normal routine). after locking the car at home, i do not put the key into my pocket, rather i simply carry it in my hand and lock it in my bedside safe. this morning as i was leaving, i again noticed that the interior lights were on. i had the key in my hand and without pressing any button, the car then locked itself right in front of my eyes...very curious. i'll also inform the installer about this.

Did I read this correctly? You lock your keys in your bedside safe. A little OCD will you say.

i still need to recover financially from the expenditures for the kit and installation. however, when i'm ready, i'll be considering the tpc sway bars (i'm looking at their stage 1 suspension upgrade which includes the sway bars and drop links), but that'll be months down the road...maybe even not until next year.

DSM= "Diagnostic and Statistical Manual" of the American Psychiatric Association. It is in it's fourth edition. It is the psychiatrist's handbook for diagnosing mental disorders.

I have "POD". Porsche Obsessive Disorder. Fortunately, I don't want to be cured. The sicker, the better.
