You lucky dog, you! I am working so hard on developing the TPC disorder. I'm reading all the abnormal psych books I can get my hands on. One of these days I will fall ill to it, but first I must recover from TDICATST disorder. Unfortunately, I don't have the UP Syndrome.

TDICATST="Two Daughters in College at the Same Time"

UP="Unlimted Pockets"

any new updates on the ride thus far?

i've enjoyed reading the last 6 pages of posts - though it is hard as each page takes forever to load using my really slow internet from a deployed location!

with the exception of a bracket that needed to be modified, and therefore, needed some fabrication, and the chip tuning for the 2.7l, the system now performs to my expectations.

i realized going in that because the system was the low pressure turbo system (without the intercooler), it would not result in a "gt3 killer". that is fine with me, as i was not looking for that. what i wanted was more power, more get-up-and-go, and that is what i have now.

as it appears that i was the first (and perhaps still the only) 2.7l cayman to have tpc's low pressure turbo system installed, i don't believe that tpc has test fitted the system on a 2.7l (although tpc may have spent hundreds and maybe even thousands of hours developing the system, they probably used 3.4l caymans as testers) because the bracket that mounts the turbo and wastegate to the transmission probably was designed for the 6-spd and not the 5-spd, which is standard on the 2.7l. this means that the bracket did not fit my car. consequently, my installer had to do some fabrication to modify the bracket, which was not difficult for him.

the area where i experienced issues was with the chip tuning. we had to ship my ecu to tpc in maryland for them to tune it. it took them 2-1/2 weeks because although they already had the tune for the 3.4l, they did not have it for the 2.7l. they had to build the files for my 2.7l. because it doesn't appear that they had a 2.7l locally for them to test the tune on, it appears that they sent it to me without such a test (they may have bench tested it, but probably did not test it in an actual car).

the chip tune did not work...the car was not developing boost (we installed a temporary boost/vac gauge to confirm). rather than sending my ecu back to tpc and have the car out of commission for what could have been an extended length of time (it took them 2-1/2 weeks to do the initial tune), i asked someone to do a custom chip tune for me. the person received his chip tuning training in italy from dimsport, which i understand is a top notch european chip tuning company.

now, in the higher rpms, i can actually hear the turbo spooling, which i did not hear before under the original tpc tune. because the tuning is custom, it is not limited to 4.5 psi as it would have been under the low pressure system. i don't view this as a problem as we'll be installing a permanent boost/vac gauge so that i can monitor boost levels to ensure that i don't over-boost the system. additionally, a jet was installed in the wastegate to help ensure that i don't over-boost. if desired, we can also install a boost controller to help ensure that i don't over-boost.

sometimes, its not good to be the first. however, i am confident that if tpc gets its hands on a 2.7l locally, they'll be able to do the necessary testing to ensure that the chip tuning works as advertised (and the bracket fits the 5-spd).

ugh...just paid another 88.00 for the "fastest" service available to me - 128k via satellite (not fiberoptic)...therefore...whenever a sandstorm occurs or wind picks up...bye bye goes the slow service.

wish i had faster service...but thanks to the OP for a synopsis!
