How much have you put into for maintenance?

How much/what have your running cost been so far? After my 911 became the "weekend" car, Boxster's been the daily(3k miles/month) and it seems like a never ending money pit. I want to upgrade the 911 but seems like all the funds end up on the Boxster.
Just in the past 6k miles
4 new tires
4 new shocks - 1 leaking original shocks
4 wheel alignment
MAF
AOS
Spark plugs/tubes/o-rings
Filters
Noticed vibration at high speed - bent wheel
New water pump in a couple days - loud bearing noise
Brake pads on all 4 corners in a few weeks
Cracked rear window/plastic - don't put the top down when it's freezing cold!
It's a fun car but now it's becoming a headache...

If the water pump is making sound... you have 3-4 days max. before being stranded at the side of the road with a car overheating... take care of that "really" soon.

Yep. Looked through the firewall and its wobbling 1/4 inch or so. I've got it parked and hopefully will make the 60 mile trip to the shop this thursday.

Seems like normal wear and tear issues that just happened to hit you all at once which is the worst. Tires, brakes, shocks all in one month is a serious bummer.

how many miles on the boxster?
There is a point in mileage where everything starts going. It's really between 60K and 90K miles. I rather buy a well maintained 110K miles car than a well maintained 60K mile car! LOL!
I got my car at 83K miles... so far I changed:

4 tires
4 brakes complete
clutch
oil filler tube
alternator
starter
water pump
some cooling hoses
rear control arms
front control arms
4 wheel alignment
sunroof motor
coilpacks
rms update

not to mention maintenances/oil changes/spark plugs.

Now at 120K, it's awesome! LOL!

seems like typical maintenance at those miles. unfortunately, the joy of driving these cars also means more maintenance. a honda civic will go 200k miles before you would change half of those things.

Just hit 79k. I guess it's just standard maintenance stuff. Just held it off too long.
Water pump was a close call. As soon as I pulled into shop, coolant started spilling out. The plastic impeller was wobbling all over the place after it was removed.

$2900.....Today!!!! It seems every other year or so, I'm in it for about $2000. If it were not for all the $hit-eating grins I get from driving it,.....well you get the idea.

However, it is well maintained. All fluids, boots, etc. are constantly monitored/changed.

I'm new here, and not a Porsche expert by any means, I owned a 911 several years ago for about a year. But I think with you driving your Boxster 36k miles a year, which is A LOT for any car, especially a Porsche, I think you might want to look into getting something a little more maintenance friendly for your daily driver? I think it would save you a lot of money in the longrun. Just my opinion though, I understand the love of cars and wanting to drive a nice quick car every day, but sometimes it's just not practical.
