Selling/Trading in my 09 Cayman S

I hate to be a Debbie Downer but unfortunately my Cayman S is not a good match for me. I am more of a sports sedan kind of guy and have enjoyed my BMW 335i much more so the Cayman is on the chopping block. It's like new condition in Guards Red, 6 speed manual, Xenons, heated seated, beige leather, Bose upgraded stereo, blue tooth, , leather steering wheel, auto climate control, and clear bra on the front. 66.5k list new. 3000 miles on it sitting in my garage here in Minneapolis, Minnesota. It really needs a new home where it can get the love it deserves.

I was wondering what you guys might think a fair trade might be as I line up a new 2011 3 series. The KBB and NADA don't seem to have any values. I will probably try to sell it myself for a while unless the trade comes up better than expected. Thanks in advance, Bob.

Good luck with the sale. The 335i is a nice car. I enjoyed mine.

No clue on the 09 trade. When I traded my 3000 mi. 08 CS for my 09 I got a whopping $37k. However, it was a stripper. It didn't even have a pole

When I bought my '06 Base Boxster (in 2/08) it was in service for 6 months and had 3,900 miles on it and I paid $12,000 under sticker from an Audi dealer. I guess that works out to about 23% off MSRP.

Good luck with sale, but just curious...what do you prefer about the 335i? The extra room? The styling? The power? Can't be the handling, no?

Okay, I feel stupid. I was about to respond to your post asking what a "pole" was. Took me a minute or two to get it. Strippers use a pole. Duh!

Agreed it can't be the handling, I'm on my 2nd 335i and one thing I can't get over is how loose the car feels. And the run-flats make the ride harsher than my R8...

The main problem is that it is a bad fit for me. My mistake.

Although golf clubs fit in it I really don't want to get grass in the car. I can't fit a bike in it. The ride is a bit harsh for a long ride. The wind noise and air pressure hurt my ears and cause a bit of fatigue. Driving in the winter seems like a bad idea in Minnesota.
Although it handles great it really seems like at 320 hp it should be faster. Mid range torque is so-so. I got a speeding ticket. My battery died too.

I am getting killed on depreciation and tabs. My 335i has a much faster feel with all the midrange. But it cost 21k less and carries 4 people.

Like I said: My mistake. Feel free to flame away. I have it coming.

No flames. Car just doesn't fit your specific needs. Thanks for sharing, and good luck with sale. I have a feeling, however, you'll feel less bad about the depreciation hit if you at least keep the car for another year, and try to enjoy it. Or else, someone else is gonna enjoy an almost new car, at your expense.

Take it to the track and see if you still want to get rid of it!

I am on the same boat, love my 08 CS. but some times I think it would be nicer to fit my friends in the car and also it would be more of a daily driver car and I was thinking of the 335i 09 on the 19" star spoke new wheels LoL

For me, practicality was never a factor when I went looking for my Boxster S. I leave driving friends to lunch, hauling luggages to/from airports, moving 8 bags of mulch or 2x4s from Home Depot, to my Audi A4 (daily driver). If you have the means, I suggest doing the same thing. Though I have seen someone strapping a 10 foot ladder on the roof of his Bentley.

Liter for liter, forced induction cars will always have more torque than na cars. If you crave the torque/power you describe and need cargo space to move stuff, go for something more practical. 335, Audi S4 with AWD and supercharger, MB C AMG class in the premium segment. Or look at the Infinity M or Acura TL in the near premium segment.

Good luck with your decision.

I thought about a Cayman S and the TPC kit. While Red wouldnt be my choice I may consider trading my "sedan" for your mid engine sports car......
